January 31, 201412 yr How much do these global mesh products impact performance? It's too bad I can't comment on most anything in here..., but I should be able to answer this. Mesh won't impact in-game performance. It might influence loading time to get into the game, but that's about it. Either your system will be powerful enough to render down to the best clarity of textures and mesh or it won't. People won't see if their system can't draw down to the mesh's resolution. If their system is unable to finish rendering things to the game's best display, it just keeps rendering down to what it can. Over and over and over...

I am considering a purchase

With FSGlobal 2010 I see higher VAS usage than without it. So if we consider VAS usage as part of performance (and I honestly always do) I would say it can harm it a lot. Maybe the reason is higher resolution, maybe the reason is more detail... I have no idea - anyway VAS-wise this made a difference to my FSX. Still this is a top notch product and everyone should get it Tomasz Zawadzki
February 1, 201412 yr DoubleJ - maybe you like default fsx hills but tbh I prefer mountains Btw - I love your way of expression. First moaning, than laughing but still no value added to discussion Tomasz Zawadzki

I have been fighting OOM with the PMDG 777X and any long flight with addon airports at my departure and arrival. I used the Word Not Allowed guide long ago but I get OOM with sliders to the right. I have to turn down Autogen and Water much lower than I want to. Should I just have turned back mesh resolution instead? It's all the way to the right at 1m.

February 1, 201412 yr I don't agree. That's OK, but could you steer me towards the detailed threads, testings that have been done, etc that draw a line between VAS and FPS in FSX? I don't have recall of them, but I'm getting a little forgetful. I'm glad that higher res mesh is enhancing your experience. It does for mine. Speaking strictly as a paid customer for the products that are out and available to the community, I'll continue my efforts to try and make a better mesh. Because as I like to say, it's all about the mesh, man... B)
February 2, 201412 yr I just meant that FSX stability is a part of performance to me. With fsglobal setting mesh res higher than 10m is pointless as this is maximum it gives from what I've read. Gear up and off - ga traffic, airline traffic, boats and cars were vas killer in my case. 30% airline rest to 0 (I use mt2013) and I am well under vas limit after flight. It all comes down to sweetspot. And dx10 is much better vas wise - cant imagine struggling with 777 under dx9 For FPS performance I always turn off ground scenery shadows and aircraft shadows (for NGX) Tomasz Zawadzki
February 2, 201412 yr I just meant that FSX stability is a part of performance to me. If that's what you meant, why didn't you type that? Or is that what you mean at this point in time, subject to what ever might come along? Right now the hot subject seems to be VAS. Seven plus years and I haven't given a hoot about crrammin' my VAS to the limits. How'd I survive up til now??? Bottom line, since release of FSX I have seen no instance where mesh has had an influence upon performance. If you look at the rendering process of FSX you would see that it is near impossible for mesh to have an impact on FPS performance But hey, you bumped your post count by a couple by going off-topic to disagree, so good for you!
February 2, 201412 yr Well, that was not my intention to bump posts. Think whatever you want but also try to rethink your attitude. I'm not here to argue, just wanted to point out how it looked like in my case. To me VAS was, is and always will be part of performance because when your FSX crashes it is not performing at all. That said, I'm going to stop here so you don't attack me with the "bumping posts" rage again. Tomasz Zawadzki
