Opinions on: Fsglobal 2010 ?

Featured Replies

I'm currently running zero mesh products...

Thinking of picking this up next but have heard all the horror stories of AP's in crater and on plateaus...

Is Fsglobal 2010 bug free with UTX and GEX?

Also if I wind up getting Vector down the road does it fix some/all of the elevation issues in Fsglobal 2010?

How does Fsglobal 2010 play with other freeware/payware add-ons that also address mesh like AP's and products like My Cities X?

I love when users blame the mesh for AP issues. The mesh is accurate, it is the AP elevations and flattens that are the issue. Any quality detailed mesh will give you the same results. With the free ADE app, you can fix most issues caused by accurate mesh yourself

The biggest issue with accurate mesh is that the default shores don't usually line up with the mesh reality. UTX or FTX vector should fix most of that.

GEX and FTXGlobal are just replacement textures for the default, none of it affects the terrain mesh.

Can the mesh product be activated/deactivated in the scenery folder at will?

Chris Camp

Not that I'm aware of. As stated earlier there is a tool to fix the very few areas that need it.

I've been running since 2010 with GEX UTX, orbx etc. with excellent accuracy. FS Global is set and forget.

FS Global is a great buy. Period... It make sure you have a fast CPU and great GPU to get the most of it, but that goes without saying, I am sure you already know that....

I use UTX with it without problems,... As the above states "FS Global is a set and forget add-on" :-)

FS Global 2010 is a waste of money, didn't notice much difference from running with just FTX Global.

I won't buy Vector either since it's really a Pilots product... look how well that's turned out.

http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/72161-vector-v11-is-a-complete-rebuild-not-a-patch/

It turned out that

1. Orbx/Pilots listen to customers!

2. They will improve the product to not let them down

3. Their product is GLOBAL and it is not possible to fully test it before release - problems will always happen

4. Getting all of fsx layers from one developer gives you highest probability of compatibility between addons

So I don't see anything wrong with their approach.

I also don't see many developers who analyse every thread on their forum, review it and implement fixes.

And regarding fsglobal - if you like flat mountains than don't buy it. If you like high resolution quality mesh than dude - it is a must have. Especially for Vfr but also ifr (my last landing in LIMC was an awesome experience with ftxglobal, fs and vector. :)

As someone already stated - ms gave us wrong mesh data and someone is trying to fix it and make compatible with all airports... They even look into the addon ones. So in my opinion - great developer and great software worth every penny if you understand what it does and you need it's functionality.

Can you speak to how it compares w/ FSGenesis V2 mesh?  I'm using it in P3D V2 but it would be great to get higher resolution mesh if possible.

I use fsglobal 2010 with fsgenesis and orbx products. Never had any probe apart from lpma which you can patch.

You can also deselect areas (continents)

Fyi it's a good 20gigs to Install

Noel cant speak for Genesis.

Stock mesh is 38m I think mostly.

Fsglobal - 10m

Fs global ultimate 1 or 5m but this maybe someone can confirm. Ultimate was too expensive for me to cover globe and I don't like to limit myself to one continent

So where is this  Vector patch/rebuild that was supposed to be done by Mid Jan according to the banner flying on Orbx?

Pilots?  lol

Patience is the key here. Prefer to wait one week more than see your rage after non complete patch.

Can the mesh product be activated/deactivated in the scenery folder at will?

Yes, my install placed separate region entries (North America, Europe, Asia, etc. in my scenery library. Check or un-check at will.

How much do these global mesh products impact performance?
