A request for AFCAD gurus

Did you try my suggestion above to fly the ILS manually or use a default Cessna and did it work?

I did try it but same thing, I did a fresh reinstall of Narita but all my approach data has gone

Was there an afcad included with the Narita scenery by whoever made it?  If not, try flying an approach again manually with a default Cessna etc.  That should use the default afcad unless there is some built-in AFD information and although it might not line up exactly with your scenery, you should be able to fly a normal approach. If you can't, then try deactivating your Narita scenery and see if you can fly an approach correctly with the default scenery and afcad.

Where did you get the scenery from?  If it's payware, do they not offer any support?

You say you have an afcad by Yuki. Maybe you should try another to see if that works. I've found another here on avsim;  afcad_rjaa_295972.zip by Daniel Murzello for Overland/Simmers Sky.

Try that instead.

In post #1, you said you were using an afcad by Yuki, so are using Yuki's or Daniel Murzello's? Or have you got both in use ANYWHERE?

I've used both AFCADS,Yuki's was first and after i reinstalled the Overland scenery I used Daniel Murzello's one, as far as I'm aware there is no other Narita AFCAD in use apart from Murzello's one.

The ILS Glide Slope transmitter has an elevation assignment as well as a lat/long. It sounds like somewhere along the line, the airport elev or GS elev was changed and they no longer match. It could be checked with a product like AFX or Airport Designer.

Just a slight note of AF type files (airport facilities such as in the default AP folders, those produced by ADE, AFX_, AFCAD, or other airport editing or scenery utility.

Use an afd type airport scanning utililty. Those files need not have ADE, AF2, AFX within their file names. They are scenery .bgl files that have an internal af type tag set that FS will recognize on accessing.

One such scanner, a bit more complex to use as it has features to show priority, is freeware from the developer of ADE, Check the readme. You can find the link in the last section of this page:

http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/ade_003.htm

It will take a while to search your pc based on your scenery.cfg file which is set by the FS scenery library setup.

Once the search is completed you can filter the long list by entering the ICAO code. By default the FS default folders with AP named files are not searched.

There is the option to narrow the list to duplicate airports only.

It is noteworthy that some add-on scenery uses a layered approach of more than one af tagged file for some features which will produce a multiple airport entry in the list. You can check the folder path in the details where this occurs. Often the airport diagram displayed only shows the airport reference point. This is done to get around some FS limitations.

I loaded the AFCAD into ADE and found that RJAA has absolutely zero approach data (see screenshot) if someone would be kind enough for me and other simmers who fly into RJAA could they add approach data? I haven't a clue how to do that sort of stuff otherwise I'd do it myself.

Both the afcads above, plus 2 others I have found and tried, have ILS data in them at the correct heights and all 4 allow correct flying of those ILSs.  Possibly, you have corrupted something.  Can you still fly an ILS with either of those afcads in any manner, correct or otherwise?  If you get ILS info on your instruments, then it could be hard coded into one of the scenery files and with an afcad you are duplicating navaids.

Why are you using the afcads you mention above?  Didn't the scenery developer provide one with their scenery?

If you still can't get any success with that scenery, deactivate it and try an ILS with the default scenery AND a  default aircraft eg. a simple Cessna. If you can then fly an ILS, then the fault must be in the Overland scenery or the A380 which you are using now otherwise your FS9 installation may be at fault ( or your method of flying an ILS).

Ok uninstalled the Overland scenery which I bought from Simmarket and flew a full ILS appraoch into Narita using the default cesna and the default scenery with absaloutly no problems at all, could the problem be the overland scenery?

It looks as if it is either the scenery or the aircraft.  Try flying your A380 with the default scenery, if it works it's probably the scenery at fault.  To prove it, then try the default Cessna with the Overland scenery, and if that doesn't work, then it must be a problem with the scenery.

You didn't answer, did the Overland scenery come with an afcad or not?

Did you download the scenery from Simmarket?

Yes the scenery came with an AFCAD, I managed to solve the problem and I'm getting full approach data now with the Overland scenery installed, just wish the same now for VTBS.

For future reference, how did you solve it?

Search for VTBS.  Others have had problems with it before. You might find the solution.
