February 8, 201412 yr Commercial Member After some testing, it is clearly a bug. The engine is getting the projection wrong and not maintaining the alignment of the centres. You can reduce the offset by reducing the scaling of the large texture [LensFlare.3] So reduce the size to "0.15" and play with the intensity. I am not saying you will like it! My FSX Analysis Blog
February 8, 201412 yr Author Thanks, I'll try that! Strange though why the default FSX sun texture doesn't seem to have this problem but maybe that's because it doesn't have the same glare and glow around it as the replacement sun textures. Forgot to mention that someone else in another thread in the DX10 Tips and tricks forum said he was very happy about the sun textures and that they were DX10 compatible using REX Essentials for textures. Maybe they found a way around this bug?

Just tried this and it worked like a charm! Although still not 100% perfect it's a huge improvement and whatever is left of the issue after changing the size to 0.15 as you suggested is definitely something I can live with. Thanks a lot Steve !!
February 9, 201412 yr So lens flare off will get rid of this? From Rex 4 direct my lens flare on dx10 doesn't work in vc anyway Dx9 is fine Tomasz Zawadzki
February 9, 201412 yr Commercial Member I can see your confusion, but no it won't. For some reason the first few entries in the Suneffect cfg file are not lens flare effects but are sunglow and corona effects - these are indicated by flags inside the entry. So you must do what I described - changing Lens Flare itself doesn't effect the way these entries are used (and I agree its odd!) My FSX Analysis Blog
February 9, 201412 yr Author In my case this had nothing to do with lens flare because I haven't used that feature. My issue was with in DX10 mode but with both lens flare and bloom disabled.
February 10, 201412 yr oops my lens flare 3 looks like this: [LensFlare.3] Texture="corona1.bmp" Size="0.06" Location="1.00" Intensity=".30" Corona="1" i use rex so nothing to reduce here Tomasz Zawadzki
February 10, 201412 yr Author No you're right, the "fix" mentioned above was for the freeware sun texture called nicks_sunfix1.
