PETE DOWSON - FSUIPC4

Featured Replies

Just about to get FSUIPC4 to use with my Preapr3dv2 but need some help (essentially I just need it so I can get my warthog stick and throttle working)

But do I need to get the freeware or payware version to get this functionality to work? (have seen it for sale in simamarket) - I am also assuming this what people mean when they talk about the restistered and unregistered versions?

ideally yes you need the payware AKA registered version to set up controllers not known by FSX/P3D without using individual manufacturers controller s/w - which can be flakey.   then untick "enable controllers" in the sim

I actually have never had a problem getting my Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle working in P3d v2 with or without FSUIPC.

It just works normally with no problem. Unless you use windows 8 apparently, or so

I have read.

You have to go through all the controller settings and make sure there are no duplicate assignments, and that the sensitivity settings and null settings are correct ( max and zero, respectively).

With the Wathog drivers installed and recognised by Windows

the JS&T should work in P3DV2 like any other controller.

However the FSUIPC payware version is highly recommended.

Most people who have it consider it one of their best investments.

I've read the Warthog TARGET software works well (at least in FSX).

I also use the payware version of FSUIPC.

Yes it is a very high developed peace of software with a lot of useful features.

I have, however, to confess that I consider it difficult and confusing to set it up. Almost like a science of its own... I worked may way through the manual about two years ago and managed it to set it up for FSX. Now that I have to set it up for P3D2 I have forgotten most of it and I am reluctant to read all of the manual again.

Is there any scoure of lean information (like a quick setup-manual or a video) that anyone can point me at?

just copy your fsuipc.ini from FSX Modules folder to P3DV2 Modules folder? - that's all that's needed for same settings

Actually the reason I am considering using it is that I was trying to get my rudder pedals to work with the warthog and all the axes went crazy - so someone suggested using FSUIPC4 for prepar3dv2 - and this should solve the problems

However I noticed gboz is suggesting using it with the TARGET software (which I don't use) - I am also slightly confused as I thought the point of this software was so you didn't have to set up on TARGET or assign the keys in game you can just us the FSUIPC4?

Also as I am now getting the sense it might be difficult for a beginner to setup does anyone have a fsuipc.ini they can send me to get me started? (from the above comments I presume you can just drop into the Prepar3dv2 folder and it should work with minimal tinkering ?) - note I also have the Saitek rudder pedals as well the warthog throttle and stick and I use track ir5...................any help appreciated

I have the Warthog stick and throttle, as said before, and I use Saitek pedals and Track IR and although I have the paid version of FSUIPC, I have found no need to use it in P3d v2 to get the controllers to work properly

Everything just works using the P3d menu controllers set up options.

Does the registered version take care of the terrible wind shifts in FSX.  I'll get it just for this if it's effective but I haven't gotten a clear concensus on this.

The registered version of FSUIPC has several functions to help tame wind, temperature and pressure fluctuations. But, a better solution would be to try either ASN or FSGRW for weather injection, as neither program has any wind shifts at all. Zero.

Mac, at this stage you might be better off sticking with P3DV2's own control settings.

The reason your axises went crazy was probably because of duplicate assignments within P3DV2.

Go into control settings and see what is assigned to the peddles.

Don't be surprised to find them controlling the throttle or some other dumb thing.

Delete every assignment that is obviously wrong.

Do the same with the joystick and throttle.

gboz thanks for the feedback.

However although I got the warthog working with the prepar3dv2 ok - when I added the peddles they seemed bizarrely to be auto mapped to the elevators - however the trouble is when I try to reassign them to the rudder axis (I previously used the warthog trimmer) it just doesn't want to  pick up the rudder pedals when I reassign even after deleting the old mapping...hence why I am considering the FSUIPC....in addition I often get problems with run away throttles on start up when I am using just the warthog.......(also just want to clarify you are talking about reassigning/deleting all the axis assignments rather than something else correct?)

Mac although I recommend FSUIPC and use it myself it doesn't assign anything automatically.

Unlike with P3D you have to do it all manually yourself for every axis and button, at least in the beginning.

I still think you have a duplicate assignment problem.

I am talking about reassigning/deleting axis assignments AND "Button and Keys" assignments.

You really have to check all the axes and buttons of each controller.

I would start by making sure you have no axis assignments for the pedals at all.

Also check there are no assignments for the pedal's buttons under "Button and Keys".

Ok the pedals don't don't have buttons but you might find up to ten phantom buttons assigned to something.

Go to the Warthog throttle axis assignments and delete any rudder settings.

Again, look through all it's axes and button assignments and delete anything inappropriate.

Do the same for the joystick.

Go back to the pedals and tick the rudder axis and the left/right break axes only.

Final thought, check that 'Auto Rudder" has not turned itself on.
