February 9, 201412 yr Hi everybody, I have a problem with dx10 FPS , I have been testing diffrent combination for solve this issue but I can't. When I was flying with DX9 my fps was very stable , I always set my fps to 30 in the fsx menu. With dx9 when I was flying I got 29.6 or 29.5 or 29.1 ........... Even I was landing at the Thessaloniki (aerosoft) I was min 25 - 24. But now I fly with DX10 (Steve's patch 1.4 last version) and the same place and same condition , my fps is always jumping and dropping something like 29.5 to 24.6 to 21.5 to 28 to 16 to 12 to 24 bla bla bla. I think I'm doing something wrong but what I can not fine it. I read "how to" ,"User guide" and "Bufferpoolls doc" but I can not solve it. I need your helps maybe some one can see something that I haven't seen. February 10, 201412 yr Hi, Safakcayli; I don't see any huge issues with your system, however:- 1). UsePools=0... your system can possibly use this setting, as the 670 is a good balance for a 4.6-gig proc, but "0" means that the GPU is to govern the buffering - not FSX, and so you do not use a ReJectThreshold with it. Try keeping it with UP="1", and the same RT. This is one of those settings that needs to be tested and tested and tested. It is not a quick process. 2). LOD Bias could come down to -0.7500, -1.000 is a little on the high side... other than that, I might drop 8x CSAA down to 4x, as AA is still pretty good, and 4x is the SGSS setting anyway. Nothing else in Inspector. These settings are good. 3). Your memory: You might try to see if you can get the timing down from 9-9-9-24-2T to 8-9-8-24-1T. Go for 1T first, and test it. If it's still ok - go for the first 9 - move it to 8, and then the third 9, also down to 8, and see if it will maintain it's stability. 4). While in the BIOS, you might also turn of HT, to see if or how much difference that makes. 5). Use some tool to stop the pc un-needed services and processes before starting FSX. 6). Here's a list of things to lower, if you want to try, as the cfg file has a couple of things that can be lowered. ... and here's the fsx.cfg with some suggestions to trim some fat from the system A big impact will come from going to 4x from 8x CSAA, with lesser impacts coming from the other little changes. Good Luck - you have a pretty decent system, and there's not much wrong with the configuration (that I can see, anyway!) All the Best, pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
February 11, 201412 yr 2). LOD Bias could come down to -0.7500, -1.000 is a little on the high side... other than that, I might drop 8x CSAA down to 4x, as AA is still pretty good, and 4x is the SGSS setting anyway. Nothing else in Inspector. These settings are good. What does this LOD Bias setting in nVidia Inspector do anyway? I have now -1.5000 as it was shown like this in another thread. Was this a mistake, should I go for -0.75 as well? Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024
February 11, 201412 yr I`m pretty sure your LOD bios setting is not doing anything as you have Driver controlled LOD bios turned on, but LOD bios changes the 'mip' bias for textures Try turning off driver controlled LOD bios, Paul it might be worth mentioning this in your guide? February 11, 201412 yr You are correct, Chris - LOD Bias has to be turned OFF in order for this function to work - and this is what I have stated in the "How-To" Guide - but not followed in my own use or the pics I've shown!!!! Talk about dumb??? This is what happens when you get past 60..... :( (sigh) . All of this information has been gleaned from the various game graphics tech sites on the web, (good set of slides here) but very much the Nvidia tech site (and Inspector), with a smattering of ATI and RadeonPro. I have seen only two or three places where the actual numbers for the bias are given, but some quote things like "You can try "-0.7500 to -1.250" - that should give you good results", and a general setting is probably the way to set and test it. Something like TBM, or FFTF; Inspector's spread is fairly wide. One of the biggest hurdles newer DX10'ers face, is that of learning and understanding the differences between DX9 and DX10, and then the rest of the technology - such as here - SGSS and how blurring ocurrs. It's only by a process of continual reading and studying that will bring one to this point - however, once reached - setting up DX10 is a breeze! The other hurdle is one of almost zero knowledge transfer from the devs who actually write the code: Steve is one of the very few who have made any attempt to do this - his blogsite being full of absolutely the greatest info on these subjects, and I advise everyone here to get into it and work at getting a grasp of "what happens when!". It's all good. Thanks for the sharp eyes, Chris!
