February 16, 201412 yr I'm not 100% sure this is a PMDG issue, but it feels like it is so that is why I am posting here. I have my nav data now updated in both PFPX and PMDG. I have a route in PFPX from KPHX to KSCL. The route is shown below - it includes a SID w/ a Transition - show below as well. You can see that when the route is uploaded into the FMC it does not route to THOMM. I have included images of the flight plan, the legs, the activated route, and the CDU legs page. I have this issue more often than not at other airports as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chuck Steinmetz
February 16, 201412 yr I am not a 100% certain on this, but it appears the SID leaves vector options to THOMM. You could short cut it by hitting the LSK next to THOMM and move it up in place of one of the others like the 260 degree line. Then hit EXEC. Caveat: There may be a better answer for this, but this is the simplest. Rob Rob Marton
February 16, 201412 yr Rob's right, it's a vectored SID. Read the actual chart and you'll see what you are supposed to do. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
February 16, 201412 yr Author Yep - that's it....a great hobby - now I have a bunch more to learn about vectored SIDS and STARS - thank you for the help! Chuck Steinmetz
February 17, 201412 yr Commercial Member Yep - that's it....a great hobby - now I have a bunch more to learn about vectored SIDS and STARS - thank you for the help! Yep...as mentioned, just a misunderstanding of SIDs/STARs (specifically vectors). Here are two videos you should watch to get an understanding, and see how that understanding applies to the NGX: Video 1 - SIDs/STARs: Video 2 - NGX Applications: Kyle Rodgers
February 18, 201412 yr Commercial Member Thank you Kyle - both great videos - very helpful. Thanks! Glad they helped! Kyle Rodgers
February 18, 201412 yr Hi Chuck, The reason for this is that part of the SID is the 360 vector. A vector is open-ended. ATC will let you off the vector when it's safe for you to resume your own navigation to THOMM. Anytime you see "Vector" there will be a form of discontinuity. Hope that helps. Cheers Ray
