February 17, 201412 yr After recent problems with fs9 not loading I have decided to do a reinstall. Is there anyway to keep all my addons intact while I reinstall fs9? Here's hoping!!
February 17, 201412 yr Hi, garyda. Is there anyway to keep all my addons intact. . .? If you installed your addons in DIRectories OUTSIDE of the standard FS9 DIR, maybe yes. Mine are even on another partition! My FS8 & FS9 are on G:\FS2. . .\ and the addons are on H:\. . . like H:\DEVILTWR\. . . Some addons are also in H:\ADDON SCENERY\. . . Good luck.
February 17, 201412 yr Author Mine are in the default dir. So I am assuming this cannot be done without a full reinstall of ALL addons? Thanks for your reply!
February 17, 201412 yr If you do a complete re-install, the add-ons that will be most problematic will likely be aircraft add-ons. You'll probably be better off re-installing those. Scenery is less of a problem, but you'll still need to add them back to the scenery library when you get FS back up and running. You could also choose to rename your current FS9 folder to something else and then reinstall, then you could move stuff over to the new installation after the reinstall. What I do is I have a "base install" which has the very basics that I know work right, like my Fs Genesis mesh, FSUIPC and things like that. I keep it on a different drive, so that if I ever face a reinstall, I can just copy the folder over to right place and I'm back in business. February 17, 201412 yr I would do the same as Jeff proposes. But you shouldn't paste your actual "problems" too! Therefore I would suggest to run your new FS9 after pasting and replacing each main folder, that means aircraft, addons, scenery, modules, gauges sound, texture ans so on. So you might not have an eventual surprise at final run! Bernard Visit: Retroavia Forum - FS9 in the pasts

Gary, I posted an idea for you in the other thread. Let's try to keep it in that thread from here on so everyone can follow along and not miss anything. February 17, 201412 yr Back up your registry and install FS9 in the same place as before...then install the registry you just backed up? Re-boot and see if that works? Note: this is just a guess on my part B) Cheers P.S. Sorry didn't see were the other thread is?
