Basic 737 ngx question

Featured Replies

Hi all

This is going to be basic qustion for the 737 ngx experts here, but i cant find the answer in the manual

Just looking in the wrong placel i suppose

All I want to do is change the cdi to nav 2. I understand how to use the radio but there is only one  crs button on the dash to work with nav1

an i missing something simple . Is there a switch somehwere, how do i adjust nav 2 to enable a  change on rhe  cdi in the display and set a radial to a nav station

Thanks in advance

Peter

The displays are normally slaved to their side radio and crs selector.

The autoflight system takes signal from the master side, that is either the first F/D to be turned on, or the side of the active autopilot.

One way of displaying Nav2 info on the left side would be to place the VHF navigation source selector switch to 'Both on 2'. This switch is on the Navigation source panel located on the overhead behind the fuel and display source panel. :)

Thanks for the info

After i posted i noticed that by default  it appears the F/O panel crs knob seems slaved to nav 2

and that then controlled the cdi on the captains side

Thanks for the hints

Pete

This is not typically something you need to do since you'd normally be using LNAV for this. If you have a particular procedure in mind, post it and we can tell you how it would normally be flown in an NG.

Sure that is true but as i am real world pilot. I like to confirm my position via  vor/ ndb/intersections.  enroute. even if im using fms/lnav. I also like to check things when transitioning

So call me old fashioned but it is a bit of a "belt and suspenders" thing for me

Thanks for all of the help

Pete

If you're just checking position, then use the POS switch on the EFIS panel or the FIX page in the FMC.  Before we go "feet wet" on ETOPS flights, we do a position check with a navaid, too.

The box is really doing all that checking for you anyway via the sensors. You could do a star shot with a sextant, if you want, but this jet is a little more current.
