Virgin Blue/Virgin Australia?

Are there still 737s flying in the old Virgin Blue colours?

Yes, they are. It can take some time to paint the whole fleet. Orbx will be using the old livery, as it is used on all the oz addons.

Are they the same thing?

I thought Virgin Blue was no more and that it was replaced by Virgin Australia (with a new livery) quite some time ago.

However I notice the latest Orbx update to an airport includes a static Virgin Blue 737 in old livery. Are there still 737s flying in the old Virgin Blue colours?

Virgin Blue became Virgin Australia after they merged their domestic and new international arms (I think it was called V Australia on their new 777's) into the one brand name.

There are still several real ones flying around in the red livery. They will be painted in the white livery when they are next scheduled for a repaint. This is usually done as part of the maintenance schedule, as reapplication of paint is periodically required to avoid deterioration and corrosion (repaints are scheduled roughly once every 5 years depending on aircraft type.)

Virgin Blue became Virgin Australia in May 2011.

I enjoyed this little documentary which includes a segment on an aircraft being repainted.

Thanks all

Yes I saw Airport Live last year, brilliant programme!

Im sure when Virgin first set up in Australia they wanted to use the Virgin Australia name but Singapore Airlines was a major share Holder in Virgin Atlantic and would not allow it so they held a naming competition and the winning name was Virgin Blue
