Anybody Using Samsoft Singapore?

Featured Replies

I purchased this scenery a few days ago and I'm experiencing the worst performance I've ever had in FS9.  Here are the issues I run into when using it...

-Very bad stutters, even from far away.  As soon as the autogen from the add on become visible, the stutters start to kick in.

-Long lag.  Along with the stutters, there is this long lag that would last about half a second and it keeps happening, especially when I'm flying over the scenery.

-OOM.  I couldn't believe it.  I was coming in for approach using the PMDG MD-11 and BAM!  My first OOM in FS9.

I ran the DXT fixer but there was no missing alpha channel on this scenery.

I really don't know what's causing this horrible performance.  I believe the scenery came out in 2005.  So my PC shouldn't have any problem running it.

I can run other much more complex add on like FT Kai Tak and Miami 2012 and they run smooth on my rig.

Anybody know if there is a tweak or something to get this one running good?

I've tried re-installing but keep getting this bad performance, so I'm done with it (unless there's a fix).

That's $35 down the drain :( .  I'm thinking I should just stick to Aerosoft and Flytampa scenery.  I've already had my share of bad performing sceneries and this one tops them all.

Hi Maurice.

I've owned this scenery since release, now coupled with ImageSim's Changi.

Never had a problem with frames or stutters.  Had a problem with CTD's ... AFCAD related.

It is old ... but not bad, especially the City.

Thanks for the input, Appliance.

It was also my plan to merge it with the ImageSim's WSSS.  I'm thinking maybe I didn't install properly.  It was tricky because it had it's own destination folder for the scenery library but didn't point to my FS9 folder, so I changed it to my FS9/Add on Scenery folder.  The instructions also said to click on "The Very Singapore" in "Add Area" and it should install.  Well, from there, it went inside the "The Very Singapore" folder where I was only able to click on the "Scenery" folder.  There was also a texture folder.

At least I know from your post that this scenery runs fine, so I'm not ready to give up yet.  I will try installing into a dummy folder tonight after work, and manually copy and paste the files into FS9.

I also have it installed since release and had no issues with it.
