Sound Issues

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Got the product the other day and I love it!

However, I have a problem. I am trying to all the sound coming out of my speakers, and be able to just use the headset for commands.

Now, everything seems to be working fine... I set up my speakers as the default playback, and the headset as default record, all is right in the world. I boot up the aircraft,

all of the sound is working as it's supposed to, then boom. The FO will turn on the aircraft's power and all sound goes to my headset.

What am I doing wrong? I can't have crew talking to me and Vatsim ATC yelling at me at the same time! ;)

I sure would appreciate the help if possible.

This could be that your sound card is not set to use the speakers at the same time as the headset.

To change this you need to open your soundcard settings.

Look for something that says something like "Independent Headset"

Then you need to check your FSX settings and also FS2Crew's settings.

If your soundcard is set correctly then you can check the following.

Check your FSX sound settings and make sure that they are set to the correct values.

It would be also worth checking that FS2Crew is set correctly also.

To check your FSX settings click on "Settings" then "Sound"

Make sure that the drop down boxes are set as you want them to be.

For FS2Crew click on "CFG" then check the audio setup value is set to your headset device.

IF ALL THAT DOESN'T WORK TRY THIS.

Unplug your headphones and play a video on youtube.

The audio should come through your speakers.

Then whilst the video is still playing plug your headphones in.

If the audio comes through the headphones then you need to check your sound card settings again.

If the audio still plays through your speakers then it should work as described above.

I could arrange a teamviewer session to help if needed.

Thanks very much for the reply Steven.

I will check my sound card for the Independent Headphones option and get back to you if needed.

Again, I appreciate your help.

OK. I went and did everything you said. Here's the exact problem. When I went on Youtube, everything was fine and sound came from my speakers. When I went on FSX, everything is fine and sound came from my speakers.

When I loaded the aircraft up, everything's fine. When I started up Fs2Crew, everything changes everything stops coming out of the speakers except for the FO's voice, which comes blaring out of the speakers.

So, in summary. Engine and switches noise: Headphones  FO and all other FS2crew sounds: Speakers.

It's really annoying!  How is this all turned around?

EDIT: I felt I should expand on the settings I have marked.  I have my Realtek Speakers as the default playback and my headphones as default Record on my Computer. I have Realtek Selected as Sound and Headphones selected as voice in FSX, and I have Headphones selected in the FS2crew CFG.

P.S. I know this is a possibility because I play iRacing with all sounds going through the speakers except for my voice in the headset.

Hummm

I'm not sure on this one then.

Something its definitely screwed up...

I would recommend that you wait for Brian to reply to this, maybe he can help shed some light on the issue

I do,

However, yesterday when I fired it up, everything went swimmingly. Seems as though everything is figured out.

I really appreciate the product and everyone's help. Safe Flying!
