VC Shadows

That's amazing. I'm switching on the VC shadows right now. I'll hopefully do a quick VATSIM flight later.. I'll see about the FPS loss but DX10 is silky smooth for me when compared to DX9..

Enjoy it :-)

I got the DX10 fixer yesterday and everything went flawlessly. I still have to experiment a little with the settings since I seem to have lost some fps here and there, but it still feels so much smoother compared to DX9, even at 15 fps! But in some circumstances, the VC shadows in the PMDG T7 bring down the performance quite noticeably. The shadows are really sharp and bring up every detail, like the heating elements on the side windows. There is probably no way to change this?

Hi Micheal,

As I mentioned in the other post, a faster card will help a great deal in DX10

Hi Micheal,

Okay, I got that! ;-)

My PC is 15 months old now. The whole thing, just as the 670 alone, wasn't exactly cheap. So I don't want to buy new hardware right now.

I'll just have to spend a little more time with tweaking and optimising. I am willing to loose some graphical details as long as I keep the overall smoothness and the VC shadows that come with DX10.

Well the 670 is still a very good card :-)

The Shadows are great with the T7. See them move like with Prepar 3DV2 is great. NGX not so great

I was a beta tester on version 2 of the fixer, and I would suggest not attempting using VC shadows on the NGX. The VC walls seem to be different compared to the T7

Also seem to be a FPS hit on the NGX. Disable Aircraft cast shadows on themself in FSX and perfomance is back again (NGX)

Rolling back the backup .mdls . (i convert every .mdl in the model directory. Hopefully this is correct)

Hi Michael, no just PMDG_737_800WL_VC.MDL. Don't touch the others. See how it looks now. All I got when I tested was one shadow covering the complete VC. You will do no harm trying.
