March 20, 201412 yr Moderator I currently have an old yoke (Saitek Classic) which is a bit limited, e.g. It only has one throttle, and 4 assignable buttons. I'm looking for a new yoke and rudder set that will work with Mac OS X. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking mainly for the following: - Not too expensive - Separate throttles. - Trim wheel - Works in Mac OS X and of course X-Plane :-)
March 20, 201412 yr I use the Saitek Pro Flight yoke without the attached throttle control. I had problems with that (throttle quadrant) right from the start. I ordered and use two USB throttle quadrants (Saitek) for that purpose and they work great. I use my old CH Products pedals and they still work well. I had a CH Products yoke, but it squeaked and the springs made "twangy" sounds which annoyed me. I took it apart and installed rubber bands as per youtube videos. that worked fine until they broke. The Saitek pro yoke is smoother and, hopefully, more durable. I'm sure that some will recommend the Saitek pedals, and I'm sure they are great, but I'm happy with my CH Products pedals. I use one of the switches on the yoke for trim and another for rudder. With 12 switches on the two quadrants, I have plenty for gear, heading bug, and other things. All these are used with PC, but should work with MAC. Good luck, John John Wingold
March 20, 201412 yr I have found over the years, whatever is cheaper at the time. I am currently using the Saitek Cessna Yoke and Pedals, they work well and the yoke comes with a separate throttle quadrant. In the past I have used and liked CH products. In my opinion they all work well. I don't know about the really expensive controls, as I haven't used the really expensive stuff whose names escape me right now  but I rather suspect they don't work any better than the CH or Saitek brands. Just my uneducated guess and opinion. Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.

X2 on all of that. I had an issue with the brakes staying on with my CH pedals, but that after years of use. I like my current Saitek Cessna Pro Flight yoke and pedals a lot more, but then they are a lot newer design than the CH models I used previously. Another note, I was living in California when I purchased the Saitek products and was able to compare the Pro Flight to the Cessna Pro Flight at a Fry's store there. I though the Cessna model was better built, even though it lacked the clock/timer. I purchased a separate inexpensive clock timer from Sporty's Pilot Shop (online) and it mounts to the yoke shaft with velcro and elastic bands. Saitek also builds in threaded bushings in the yoke housing, and that makes it convenient to mount their panels to the yoke. I added a Saitek Multipanel, which is essentially a set of autopilot controls. March 21, 201412 yr Author Moderator Thanks guys. I'll pick up the Cessna Yoke and pedals :-) It's my birthday next week (so I have a good excuse to convince my girlfriend that it's ok to spend some money)
