New pc help

Hi simmers! I got my new pc build yest and installed fsx with 737 ngx pmdg! My comp specs are below plus monitor! My question is when i load up the 737 ngx the graphics are a bit jaggy looking in the cockpit and not sharp like the videos you see in youtube? Has anyone had this problem when they first started out? I have a basic knowledge of computers infact pretty low. Can anyone help me tweak fsx for my 737 thanks alot

What would you guys recommend HDMI OR VDI for my monitor below?

Overclocked Intel® Core™i7-4770k Quad Core (3.50GHz @ max

ASUS® Z87-A: ATX, USB3.0, SATA6GB/S, SLi, XFIRE

16GB KINGSTON HYPERX BEAST DUAL-DDR3 2400MHz X.M.P (2 x 8GB KIT)

3GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 780 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

Asus VG248QE 24-inch 3D LED Monitor - Black (1920x1080, 80000000:1, 144 Hz, 1ms, DVI Display Port, HDMI)

Hi thanks for the reply! What is IIRC? I'll try it again later once i'm home. Would you recommend hd over the vdi for my monitor?

Vernon Howells

IIRC= If I Remember Correctly.

HDMI should yield better results.

I forgot to mention your hardware/graphics settings in FSX: You should also check your anti-aliasing settings (both in FSX and in your GPU driver). There are AVSIM configuration guides available in the forum here (see the "quicklinks" at the upper right-hand side of the page).

Ok i'll check all this later today! And also where do i get this performance manager about and what does it do?

Vernon Howells

The perf. manager is automatically installed alongside the NGX. You should be able to reach it from your Windows start menu (PMDG => NGX).

It allows you to configure cockpit textures, display refresh rates and stuff. (IIRC ...)

Details can be found in the introduction manual for the NGX.

FSX settings and options are stored in the fsx.cfg.

Some can be controlled via the FSX options screens, others need to be altered by opening the cfg file and changing values manually.

The only entry you really have to bother with is to make sure that HIGHMEMFIX=1 exists in the [GRAPHICS] section. If not, enter it manually via Notepad, for example.

Top marks to you, Oliver, for being so patient and so helpful to this Newbie.

You might want to read the PMDG 737NGX Introduction and try Tutorials 1 and 2. These documents can be accessed by Clicking Start>All Programs>PMDG Simulations>PMDG 737NGX. These documents contain a wealth of information concerning FSX and 737NGX setup. You should read them. They are important
