March 31, 201412 yr Does anyone else fly only with cirrus clouds? I love how great it looks flying through high resolution cumulus clouds, but as soon as you get up high, I find that even with REX and Opus, they always look really poor, and quite unrealistic. I recently made a custom weather theme that just had a 3 or 4/8 scattering of cirrus, and love the effect. It's also very kind on frames so great when in the NGX or Aerosoft A320 at a busy airport with lots of traffic and all of the FPS hogging that comes with that! For me, the cirrus clouds look great! If anyone has any tips for cumulus clouds realism I'm all ears. As I said I love the effect when you're passing through them at low altitude, but when you're up above the clouds I find they look really "basic" and unrealistic, is it just me? Here is a shot of my cirrus-only theme
March 31, 201412 yr For cumuus go to you FS.config file and change cloud coverage density from 8 to...say 50. It makes the cumulus clouds thicker and more realistic.

April 1, 201412 yr Author I've tried all kinds of densities and find that no matter how good they look at low levels, they always look really fake and not good from high altitudes. Maybe it's just me!
April 1, 201412 yr The big benefit of using only cirrus clouds, which I agree look great, is the performance boost. April 1, 201412 yr You could try Oscar Clouds (found in Avsim Library under FSX - Miscellaneous). It may not give you all that you're looking for, but could enhance your present cumulus. Chris
