February 8, 200521 yr Hi John,Thanks for your insight as a former CS Beta TesterAppreciate itfly safeDave
February 8, 200521 yr thx john. It's sad really, it is. Potential wasted. But heh, I don't think so....billg
February 8, 200521 yr "(...) Maybe the owner of Captain Sim was knee-capped by the Russian mafia? (...)"Judging by what happened two years ago: their barely veiled threats as "Soviet ex-military" towards customers they considered "betrayers", combined with the fact that last year the Canadian government deported one of their staff back to behind where the Iron Curtain used to be, they ARE the Russian mafia (grin)!Anyway, the CaptainSim crowd has the social graces of an autistic axolotl, combined with the public manners of a slightly irritated rattle-snake. Be well!Jaap Verduijn.
February 8, 200521 yr >>Anyway, the CaptainSim crowd has the social graces of an>autistic axolotl, combined with the public manners of a>slightly irritated rattle-snake. >that's an insult to all autistic axolotls AND all irritated rattlesnakkes!
February 8, 200521 yr "the CaptainSim crowd has the social graces of an autistic axolotl"this is the first time in my life I've had to look up a dictionary for a word that I saw on some boards. Axolotl did it. In spite of myself, I have to admit that this is pretty funny. In fact, if there's a prize for one liner of the mth, this is my vote. billg
February 8, 200521 yr You're right, Jeroen. I do apologize to all axosnakes, rattlelotls, lotlrattles, snakeaxos, lotlsnakes, axorattles, snakelotls and rattleaxos, especially those among them who are either autistic or slightly irritated (grin)!Be well!Jaap Verduijn.
February 8, 200521 yr Hello Fellow Flightsimmers,Last October I was approached by a member of the Captainsim C-130 team and asked if I would be interested in Beta Testing there C-130 Aircraft for them. As a retired U.S.Coast Guard C-130 Flight Engineer with 4000 flight hours and 15 years maintenance experience, I thought that this might be a great opportunity so I accepted.Over the course of the last 5 months I provided TOLD ( takeoff and Landing Data ) as calculated from the Actual C-130 proformance Manual as well as Photos of the Engine Instruments, ( Not the Digital, but the original design )Actual C-130 interior photos as well as other requested technical data as requested by my contact on the Captain Sim team.I was always willing to help out in anyway that I could to help ensure the most realistic C-130 Available but last week I was sent an email that stated that my contact at CaptainSim was leaving the Team and now I have no way to contact them as there website is also very restricted. I can only hope that the "HERC" will be released soon and that the information that I was asked to provide will help ensure that a very realistic Aircraft will be produced....Fly safe everyoneDave
February 8, 200521 yr Hey, guys, I do not think they are dead. Probably they are working too hard on the Herc and new site? I am sure they will show us something very soon. BTW, recently I've lost my 707 and received immediate support.
February 8, 200521 yr Hi Dave,No problem. One thing I do have to say about CS, after Beta testing their last 4 releases, is that they go to great lenghts on the visual model but fall very short when comparing the systems and panels to what's available out there. Great for screen shots and painters but that's about it.Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
February 8, 200521 yr Don't feel bad Dave, I had a similar experiance with the E-3. I provided all kinds of help of the same nature only to see a poor product released. CS didn't do anything with all the issues we found in beta they just released it. It really was wasted potential...On a side note, its good to see so many engineers in here! :-cool-Jason Peters E-3 AWACS Flight Engineer USAF (Former B-52H Crew Chief) [email protected]http://www.feelthere.com/banner/erjpilot.jpg -Jason Peters, MSgt, USAF Ret.Charter Pilot (SIC). February 8, 200521 yr Agree with you completly here John. Beta was an absolute waste of time. Good to see you again, always enjoyed our technical conversations on the CS forum.-Jason Peters E-3 AWACS Flight Engineer USAF (Former B-52H Crew Chief) [email protected]http://www.feelthere.com/banner/erjpilot.jpg -Jason Peters, MSgt, USAF Ret.Charter Pilot (SIC). February 9, 200521 yr Hey Jason,How's my favorite 'dawg'? For those of you who don't know, Jason is a 'crew chief's crew chief' meaning he was one of the best of the best! I would have been more than proud to have this young man care for my aircraft any day! And he is soooo right. He and countless others (myself included) brought up many items which were totally ignored by CS, and for the life of me I don't understand why. There were very capable pilots, crew chiefs, engineers and such on the beta team, and we were not given any interaction between the group nor was there any response from CS on any given problem we mentioned. The 707, which had so much potential, was released with more bugs than than a 'Raid' commericial, and the patch did little or nothing to address the main issues. In truth, I hate to say that and really don't wish CS to bite the dust, as they have promised a B-52 down the line that could just be the ultimate, and I'm probably cutting my own throat on the beta, but I have made a rep around these parts as just calling them as I see em and letting the chips fall where they may. Alex, if you're reading, please pay attention . . . you are so capable of doing such great stuff, we'd rather wait forever than get a buggy product and become hardened towards CS. Bring us out a great new one and all will be forgiven, least from me.BestClayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"
February 9, 200521 yr Clay dosn't mince words. Good on you. Thx, the boards needed this. A totally fresh, un ####, frank, discussion. Later...billg
