Take-Off Engine Settings

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm really trying hard to enjoy my Phenom, and slowly I'm getting there. No doubt SP1 will be worth the wait.

Is anyone having issues with setting takeoff thrust, and the initial climb?

Engine rating options are available under systems, and these include temp, ATR on/off, continuous, and climb, but I can't seem to get them to work.

My Phenom redlines at about 85-86%, and at full takeoff weight, I barely crawled off the opposite threshold of RW09 at TNCM.

If I firewall the throttles and ignore the flashing red and CAS warning symbols, then life onboard the Phenom becomes easier but no less less risky. Plus I didn't make it anywhere near Fort Lauderdale despite two full tanks (a flight that seems manageable in a Phenom 100 ferry flight YouTube video I watched recently).

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Have I missed the bit in the manuals about setting takeoff thrust and thrust management?

Thanks,

Fabio

My error; there was a refuelling stop at Provenciales, must have skipped over it!

Actually, I have had some really useful replies [PM's], the result of which is a better understanding of the systems, and more enjoyment, though by this I'm not in any way suggesting that some/all of the systems are correctly modelled.

By default, according to real world docs, ATR should be ON, but part of my checklist is to double check and double click ATR ON (automatic thrust reserve) if needs dictate it (which seems to be always). Now my engine gauges don't go blood-red with anger.

I definitely made an error with the long flight segment as there was a midway fuel stop that I forgot. The cruise power charts suggest it is theoretically possible, though at the upper limit of its range; unfavourable winds on the day would make legal reserves borderline.

Whether the Carenado Phenom can manage it, or whether my VLJ flight planning and flight regime management are good enough, is questionable. In the RW. I sincerely hope that they would be, at least in my usual non complex single.

In such a nice little jet, it's is pitiful that so much is incorrect, and that under the glossy shell, it is a cheaply finished product. Beneath the gloss there lies a poorly considered product. I lament the fact the the GPS is stock, and without the ability to enter fixes into it, as even this basic improvement would make it better. I'm hopeful that the service pack will address many of these issues, but on past experience and from what can be gleaned from other product posts, it's unlikely.

I'm OK with putting up my hand if I'm wrong.

Thanks Fabs on the ATR info. Despite the fact I fly the Phenom almost exclusively, now, there is still much I don't know. So every bit of info helps. The thrust "red" indicators are a common issue for me and knowing about the Automatic Thrust Reserve settings is a bonus. Next flight I'll put it to the test. There is much to know but having a blast filling in the blanks. The Embraer Phenom 100 Pilot's Operating Handbook (pdf) is a great resource even if the simulation doesn't always meet with expectation. Thanks Fabs.

Sorry gents, but this is the first and last Carenado product I will waste my hard earned money on such a inferior product..First, I should have known better...The Prodigy 100 system is really outdated and difficult to program for flights on Vatsim...I will go back to the original fms systems of the PMDG and Eaglesoft Development group...The only way I can fly the Phenom100 on Vatsim with Sid and Stars is to use FSCommander program to control the course headings...

There are so many little details that were overlooked...many mentioned in this forum...So I want waste your time...Yes, I agree with the comment, it would be nice to have the developer update this beautiful "candy" aircraft, but that will never happen...That's why PMDG has been so successful with their aircrafts because they spend so much time in development of a superior product before releasing...

How I totally agree..70% N1 just get the plane to break inertia with the airplane. ridiculous among the list.
