  1. Hello Jack, There have been mixed opinions on the Carenado Phenom 100, not least of which is the ongoing love/hate relationship with aircraft made by Carenado - great graphics but realism the after thought. I have several Carenado aircraft including the Bonanza, Baron, Phenom 100 and 300 etc plus many A2A and Realair - like them all AND I have added the GTN 750 or 650 to them all - where possible - special thanks to Bert and those VC mod creators who enabled this for the older birds. Truth is these are all simulations and as such - the operational realism is always marginal and by degrees, in the overall - perfection does not exist. The Phenom 100 still holds a special place and I have put more flight hours on this bird than any other I have. I am still looking to get the "instrument reflections" permanently turned OFF so I can run my 750 without first having to go to the VC control panel - but I am sure someone more adept at mod creation and FSX programming, than I, will come up with a solution. I was so impressed when I first started flying the Phenom 100 - I created a video and posted same - that was back in May of 2014. Here's a link if interested: Happy to hear you're happy with it - me too. Brian
  2. Vaughan, I also have the amazing Duke Turbine and Legacy 2 - both with the GTN750 - and all aircraft utilize EZDok views. Hard to imagine a sim flight without these add-ons, any more. The GTN 650/750 have revolutionized flight, although I can only speak for the simulated variety. Finally on the download count from Carenado - just ask to have it topped up - never heard of a refusal yet. All the best. Brian
  3. Vaughan, Happy it worked out - same here - the seat belt from hell is gone and I suspect you are right, there may be some additional tweaks added. Do you use the GTN750? - if so, have you installed Ray's updated version 1.14 - available today. Brian
  4. Hi Vaughan, I have heard back from Carenado and the standard un-install is required prior to the updated version. This brings me to your question...excuse the paraphrase - How the hell do I know whether my vs of 1.1 is the updated version of 1.1? - The only way you can know in absence if an incremental update number (ie vs 1.1.1 or 1.2 etc) is to actually check the modification date on the newly downloaded file and compare same with the original. (right click on the downloaded files in your downloads folder) the modification date will appear as well as the actual size of the original file(s) which should be different. I just re-downloaded the CJ2 file from the Carenado site and indeed the modification dates have changed as well as the file size. AND...Eureka! Ray has just posted a link to the updated GTN modification files. As soon as I have completed my regular work stuff...I am on it Hope this helps. If not let me know. Brian
  5. Hi Vaughan, Here is the verbatim response from Carenado re the ticket I submitted to them (it was not a post). I suspect this is an incremental update (no visible identifiers), apparently already posted. I just went to their website to see if there were any identifying indicators for the updated file - but their website appears to be undergoing heavy traffic issues - right now. I have requested a clarification on the "un-install first" standard procedure. AND...I think I will wait until the updated GTN modification installer is ready; then have a go at both, then. If you want I can post their response, once I've received same. Brian
  6. Thanks Janek for the update - mistakes happen with everyone - we are not quite the automatons we would like to believe - thankfully- true, not as much despair, but not as much fun either  A Solution to the Seatbelt from Hell I forwarded a ticket with Carenado yesterday re this issue and they replied today that it had been fixed via an update, that has been made available, post the initial 1.1 update release. So for those focusing on the cockpit of the CJ2 recently (at least in the FSX (SP2) version) and have not ventured into the passenger compartment - know a solution has now been posted by the folks at Carenado, should the seatbelt from hell, appear. Brian
  7. Hi Glynn, If you're referring to the mod, NAV and FLC are not running quite right - you have to use APPR which acts as the NAV button (I am using FSX, P3D may be fine). I think, from reading recent posts, that there might have been a mix-up in the files that were posted for download. I'm sure it is something that will get remedied soon. I read in another recent post that Ray was aware of the FLC issue, post the vs 1,1 update, but a solution, I think, had been instituted - again these may have gotten mixed up with the files that were actually posted. The lads did a great job - and I suspect a lot is going on with other events this weekend - so getting the right files posted may take a day or two. If not, I know where I can get a long digital seat-belt to hang my digital self from Hang tough. Brian
  8. Hello ALL, I purchased the CJ2 yesterday (vs 1.1) once the mod squad posted the incredible GTN modification. Great job! Today when I set up my EZ-DOK views I noticed the following graphic anomaly, in the passenger compartment- viewable only from the back of the plane. I linked two pictures having slightly different angles to get a better idea what I am seeing. It is not related to the modification - I put back the original - it does the same with both. Graphic 1 https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0veMxh9ITWoYjBZOW9SYnlvRWM Graphic 2 https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0veMxh9ITWoQVJaSXVvSTNFQVE Any one else getting this - I am using FSX (SP2) with Win 7? Suggestions? Thanks Brian
  9. Absolutely brilliant! The only reason, speaking for myself, but not unlike all the rest of us GTN huggers, that I would even consider the CJ2 is because of the modification. Thanks Bert, Janek, Ramon, and Ray (The Mod Squad) for your dedication to making the sim experience for us less talented, what it can be - and is. Brian
  10. Thanks Milviz for getting back, indeed the installer needs to be updated for the Baron 55, FSX and the F1GTN installer and likely for the P3D posters. I went ahead and installed the F1GTN default config, as it stands (even though I don't have the GNS530/430) , then changed the relative, model and panel in aircraft.cfg to GTN750 as stated. This worked fine. I then went ahead and purchased the C310 and noted the F1GTN installer here, did include a check box for the GTN 650/750 and in various set-ups. The installation was problem free. 11. Just purchased MilViz Baron 55 (MilViz Beechcraft Baron 55 v3.150525) and Milviz GTN (MilViz_B55_F1GTN_v1.150308) Installer, The installation of the Baron 55 went fine, however, in the installer screen for the FIGTN v 1.150308 there is no selection for the GTN 650 or 750 only the GNS530/430 OR GNS430x2. Both were downloaded from their website today (March 13, 2016) - so should be the newest. I have installed the f1 GTN 650/750 on numerous other aircraft including Bert's great modifications for older aircraft- and all function 100%. I use Windows 7 and FSX (SP2). I've checked the web but, have not come across anything similar. Any suggestions? Stofvel
  12. Hello All, I recently installed the GTN 750 in the Phenom 100 thanks to a modification by Jiri Kocman forwarded to me by Bert Pieke. The modification was based on Bert's Phenom 300, GTN 750 modification, which I installed first, with some help from the guage-master. Absolutely amazing. In order to achieve direct input in the VC (Virtual Cockpit) it is necessary to turn off "Instrument Reflections" in the Carenado Customizable Panel (Shift 4 - I think). This is the case. in both the Phenom 300 and the Phenom 100. Unfortunately with the Phenom 100, Customizable Panel, Instrument Reflections will not stay turned off. It must be reset every time you start or restart the aircraft. Is their a modification that can be made in the Phenom 100, aircraft.cfg or a .ini file that would keep "Instrument Reflections" off semi-permanently or permanently. Much appreciated for some input on this. Thanks PS: I am running FSX (SP2) on a Windows 7 system.
  13. Is there a way of semi-permanently resizing the aircraft in the FSX Free Flight Window. Some aircraft extend beyond the frame of the window (see link to PIC1 and PIC2 ). https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0veMxh9ITWoa3BUM3pFTkRpOHM&usp=sharing I can resize the aircraft OK, but every time I start up FSX it goes back to the "too-large" default. It only does this with some aircraft. I think there are programs that allow one to change the defaults of some FSX parameters including the Free Flight Window aircraft size (safely!), but if it is just a change in a .ini or .cfg that will help. Thanks in advance for any help. Brian
  14. I have checked out quite a few forums to see if I can resolve the EZDock External Camera View with the A2A C182. All other EZDock views are good including World Camera view, and I am aware that the A2A Walk Around Views are conflicting with the external EZDock view. I am running FSX (SP2) with Windows 7 and all other aircraft I have, run fine with EZDock, including RealAir Legacies (1 & 2), Duke and Turbine Duke although I had to delete some Camera views in the respective aircraft.cfg files to get the EZDock World views to work. All aircraft from all FSX developers are running A-OK except the A2A. I recently purchased both the A2A C182 Skylane and the A2A Piper Cherokee 180 and the problems are similar. I attempted one solution for the C182 which was to move the EZDock Camera definition in the aircraft.cfg file to the top of the Camera Definitions list, identify this as CameraDefinition.0 and renumber the subsequent CameraDefinition.X files in sequence. Nothing was changed on CameraDefinition files 101,102... The net result was that the C182 external view in EZDock was missing the front landing gear, but, as well, it was not the typical external view of the C182 aircraft, and indeed the walk-a-round view worked. If anyone knows of a solution or a link to a proven solution, please let me know. Much appreciated. Stofvel
  15. Thanks for that. Bert Pieke sent me his Carenado Phenom 300 panel modification for the GTN750 which I installed this morning. He did an incredible job that greatly enhances the 300 flight experience. Indeed the ability to incorporate the GTN750, and/or others, in add-on aircraft, changes the game. It is a selling point for the sim aircraft developers, who can now provide a cross-aircraft, familiar GPS/NAV/COM/ MFD solution which has at its core, current real-world application, in an extemely intuitive device both real and simulated. Amazing! Indeed as Ray Marshall noted in his review - this changes everything. Stofvel
  16. After reading Ray Marshall's excellent review, recently, on F1's GTN 750, I purchased same to run on the RealAir Lancair Legacy V2 and Turbine Duke V2. The review was written in 2014 which makes me a bit of a johnny-come-lately but indeed Ray's comment, that this changes everything certainly has come true. It is absolutely amazing! My question - Is there a way of incorporating this into the panel of the Carenado Phenom 100 OR other aircraft - not the pop-up only - and if so, is there a website or sites that address this - ie requirements, how-to's, etc? I am running FSX SP2 on Windows 7. Thanks for any help.
  17. Happy to share Bill - this forum, thanks to its members, is a great spot to learn much about an incredible pastime. Sharing an article, is small potatoes compared to other member offerings and technical savvy, but it all goes toward making the experience a hell of a lot of fun.
  18. Vic, Welcome! It helped put the Phenom 300 experience in perspective from a RL hands-on perspective, and having only been a desk-jockey pilot myself, makes the experience even more enjoyable. Stofvel
  19. Hello All, I recently purchased the Carenado Phenom 300 and have now upgraded to vs 1.2. A work in progress with the beta-tester clients er customers . The FLC still needs some work but I am impressed with the overall. I came across this article on the actual Embraer Phenom 300 from 2010 in an on-line aviation magazine. I found it a good read, and as a good simulation should be, more or less reminiscent of my Carenado Phenom 300 experience (your mileage may vary . Thought I would pass it along. http://www.flyingmag.com/pilot-reports/jets/embraer-phenom-300?page=0,0 Enjoy. Stofvel
  20. Nemeth responded to my question. For the benefit of anyone wondering the same, here it is: The EC135 doesn't require Acceleration Expansion Pack, only SP2. In fact, it works even with SP1 with the compatibility patch installed. But for SP2 you don't need anything else. I pretty well thought this was the case but where on-line, non-refundable purchases (without excessive complaint) are concerned "an ounce of prevention" fits. Stofvel
  21. I am seriously looking at purchasing the Nemeth Eurocopter EC-135 (FSX) but I don't know whether it will work properly with FSX (SP2). I don't have Acceleration installed. I have searched but can't find anything definitive to running specifically with FSX and SP2 on a Windows 7 system. I run CeraSim 212 and 222B without problem. The requirement states "FSX only" (Acceleration is not indicated as a pre-requiste) but not sure whether "FSX only" includes SP2. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thanks Stofvel

Thanks Maarten - I had a chance to dig a bit further into SLX today. Impressive! Little things like knowing surface winds at destination airports when setting up FPs - invaluable info offered up at a glance, etc, etc.

Thanks Maarten, I did a cursory check with the METAR string at my local and it did not appear correct. Perhaps a bit too cursory ;-), on my part. Is there any way of verifying that the weather string is via ASN or a substitute? It looks like a great product Maarten - I need to put it through its paces yet but a well deserved contribution is sure to be forthcoming. Thanks again Maarten for your product and excellent help. Is there a link to the most current version? I think I will be passing it along. Stofvel

Thanks for getting back so quickly. As stated I am trying to get Active Sky Next (ASN) to work with SLX. I have posted a screen shot (link) of my setup which mirrors the path delineated in your manual's example (with the exception of course that we are using FSX not P3D). https://www.dropbox.com/s/1glgguhiqt8q9lx/ASN_SLX_FSX_Failure.jpg?dl=0 When we hit "Save" and return to SLX OR restart the program - SLX returns to the same state as the screenshot. I assume the path is incorrect, however, other than the example provided in the manual I don't have any way of knowing what path might be workable. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide and for the uninstall instructs. Stofvel
