April 27, 201412 yr Hey folks ! I just wanna find out whether the spot view camera distance in Prepar3d platform is as easily adjustable as in FS2004 or it behaves the same awful way as in FSX. Thanks for any replies !
April 27, 201412 yr In spot view you hit the plus or minus keys to zoom in or out. Same as FSX. I have a feeling your question requires further explanation as what's awful for some is pure pleasure for others. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 27, 201412 yr Author First of all, thanks for your reply. Well, assuming that you have once been a user of FS2004 too, the good old FS2004 enables the user to manually set a spot view distance inside the view menu while running the simulator. FSX, however, lacked this very useful dialog box feature, which had constantly been critiqued by many simulator fans as it first emerged. Seemingly, so does Prepar3d, now. Zooming in or out is something else to mention here, that almost all platforms are able to handle, somehow. I should search further if such a dialogue menu is featured within the good new prince Prepar3d.
April 27, 201412 yr The spot view distance can indeed be problematic. This has nothing to do with the zoom factor. As far as I can determine, for FSX, the spot view distance is calculated from the bounding box in the .mdl file. A program called Air Wrench can read this file, display the parameters, and allow you to change them. This works for FSX, probably not for P3D. It would be very very nice if the spot view distance were a settable parameter in a config file. Hook Larry Hookins Oh!
