Can not get Track IR (5) to run in P3D v. 2.2

Recommended Posts

Hello old (and new) friends,

I read the previous topics and can not find a marching thread. Like the title says, there is no way I can get Track IR to run inside the sim. I have installed the latest drivers (5.2.2 I think) etc and generally know my way around both the sim and the tracking device and have been using it for years.

It was working great inside the same program, but I had other problems and did a complete OS (Windows 7 Pro) reinstall on a new SSD drive, so the latest P3D was reinstalled as well (on a separate RevoDrive. Everything else is back to normal, but although Track IR runs well outside P3D on its own, it is a no-go within.

Any suggestions? Flying is Neanderthal without the tracker!

Kind regards,

Hi Stephen -

One thing to watch for - TIR looks at the window title to determine which program it is connected to. To demonstrate - use the FSUIPC VAS logging to put the VAS in the title bar - it will no longer say P3D (or FSX) and TIR will not work. SO if you have ANY addon that will insert something in the window title - TIR will not work.  If you connect TIR and THEN change the window title it will work.

Very strange.

I reinstalled FSX and it ran well within. Then I tried it in P3D and it worked.

In other words, apparently Track IR has to run in FSX before it will work in P3D.

That can't be right can it?

Kind regards,

TrackIR needs one of the legacy versions of SimConnect installed. You can either reinstall FSX like you did or go here:

<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\redist\Interface

and install the correct version of SimConnect (probably SP2 in your case).

@SpiritFlyer. Which one or both solutions were required?

@SpiritFlyer, you have been a master at performance testing in the past. How do you see P3D performance - smoothness (lack of stuttering ) and FPS
