XP is very different in its needs compared to FSX.

Some things are the same - for instance the CPU needs to be as powerful as money allows.

Consider a 4770K

Video card should be powerful too but get 4 GB video ram example gtx 770 4 GB... XP chews through VRAM especially on HDR.

Get at least 16 GB ram - the new 10.30 update will add rendering distance options - requiring 8 GB min. With certain addons such as HD mesh or OSM 16 will be pushing it. Also use faster ram with a 4770 - 2400 MHz is good. As always find the lowest timings you can. (Timings are the numbers like 9-9-9-24).

And the test shouldn't bee too hard to figure out - get a motherboard which allows overclocking.

PSU at least 550W if its a superb brand, 650w for a good brand.

Finally I really recommend a SSD. I load XP on a 7200rpm HDD and it takes about 3-4 min with HD mesh/ OSM data. Samsung 840 Evo is good value but only 3 yr warranty / 840 pro better longevity but more money.

Good luck

Hi Ryan

Iam à complete Nob at xplane but gone give it à go,

Have two systems free, 4770k 16gig 2666mmz or 4960x 32gig 2400mhz .

Gpu for the xplane pc Titan Z.

What do you think 1150 or 2011?

Does the 2011 have 6 cores? That might be worth it.

....must be able to overclock to 4.8mhz or higher....

Both CPUs do 4.8ghz with HT enabled 24/7 on water .

The overclocking is the easy part for me.

Sure à get problems with settings and tuning X- plane10 only now Fsx.
