looking for help to make Aerosoft DHC6 300 script

Featured Replies

I try to make a script for this aircraft which is  not supported by MCE ( hopefully will be supported in the future)

even thought the checklist of the Aerosoft DHC 6 300 works just fine, being spoiled  by MCE give a command without touching the keyboard  so that's why I try it i , but unfortunately only a few commands is recognized by MCE Vox Script

I heard that  A lot of people are now fluent with script for MCE, any help will much appreciated, thanks for reading this topics

so this is what I have made so far, please note this is my first script so I do not have any experience what so ever with the script, as so far I  use the script which is provided by MCE

Hello John,

Go into the "Shared Commands" in MCE menus. (This is a native FSX aircraft so they should all work just fine.)

Look for the exact syntax in the lists.

Use the exact syntax for the commands you need.

Your posted script is massive! I think you only need a minimum of scripted commands to start the engines.

Electrics on.

Fuel  pumps on.

Air bleed on (from GPU/APU)....I don't have the Twotter so don't have the manual. But if its a Twin Turbo it should not differ from the majority of Twin Turbo start ups.

Mostly a command "start engine number one" will do just that!

Download my PMDG J41 script from Avsim library and have a look at my start up flow. I do separate flows for each engine as well as a full double engine start up.

Remember to test each line of your script while in the sim. With the aircraft sat there and receiving your commands. If they work keep them. If they don't alter the syntax till they do.  Only use the scripted commands that you need to start the systems.

Hope this helps a bit.

Best Regards

David

de icing swithces off
anti coliton light on
pitot heat off
windshield hear or wipers off
d c master on
caution lights checked
fire detection test
fire bell mute on then off
fuel quntity checked

Just looking at the script, there are lots of typos

fire handeles in ( Handeles should be handles) Try fire handle engine one push, fire handle engine two push instead)
inventer fan off (inventer should be inverter. Command won't be recognised anyway since this aircraft isn't supported)
inventer switches select one or two (Can't have such commands even if aircraft was supported, it's either inverter or or Two. FO wouldn't know what you mean by one OR two
de icing swithces off (typo swithces when it should be switches)
anti coliton light on (typo in "coliton" means command won't be recognised. Try "anti-collision light on" or "beacon light on"
windshield hear or wipers off (typo in hear, should be heat. And can't have request for different items on the same line)
d c master on (try "battery on")
caution lights checked. No such command even for supported aircraft
fire detection test. Try "check fire detection"
fire bell mute on then off. Can't ask FO to perform two different actions on the same command
fuel quntity checked (typo in "quntity". Should be "Quantity". Besides, command doesn't exist. Try "check fuel quantity"

That's why it's better to create your commands in Voxscript interface with aircraft loaded. You will immediately know if it will be recognised, otherwise you'd have to check for any typos in there.

Hi John, these videos may be helpful:-

First one demonstrates Twotter checklists, which you obviously have in the sim.

In MCE just make a fresh checklist or use a generic turbo prop checklist and re name it.  Add the Twotter specific items as per your list.   Just watch the Syntax is typed correctly, spaces etc. or it will get flagged at start up.

http://youtu.be/vCnEHECFVQA

And here is the engine start. Only takes 2 minutes.......(Almost as noisy as the Jetstream!)

I Do two things when scripting flows:-

1. Have the sim running and script the Vox Script "on the fly" i.e. one line at a time. Test each line by clicking on "test". Then run the full Vox Script and check the timings. Sometimes the pauses are unnecessary. See how quick the real world crew start the aircraft. That's what you want in MCE. We are simulating real world flight here!

2. Have the "Shared Commands"  MCE list open. These are for all FSX Native aircraft. Most of these should work. Only use the essential commands. As Gerald says, you must spell each command accurately. Syntax must be correct, that's why I script "on the fly" and test each line separately!

The below is an example from my PMDG J41 Start Up Vox Script:-

John, let us all know how you get on.

I'd have a go myself, but am not at my PC Sim Machine right now, and don't have the Twotter. But may get it after seeing some of the You Tube vids. Those Lukla landings and take off looks just the ticket!  Not to mention it has a lovely Amphibian version in the Twin Otter Extended version. I may get back to Milford Sound for the summer! :P

Aerosoft appear to have replaced some FSX code, that did not work very well, with custom developed code!! That may require a little extra support from MCE.

Hmmm...sounds a nice, good value sim package for  £23.99 B)

Cheers

David

Hello David,

I did try it , but  I just give it up to make the script for DHC 6 400 as some command does not work, and I just choose the wrong aircraft to make a script anyway , as this aircraft does not supported, and I have  no knowledge to choose which command I should use as alternative , when it is not working , eventhough I look for in share commands, only a few works, so for the time being I just do the checklist which included with the Otter Extended,  and I always fly with the Amphibian, I found some lovely water airports in North America, if you want them I can send them to your youtube.

by the way it is nice avatar picture, David :P

Hi John, there should be common commands that will allow start up flows, shut down flows and basic first officer procedures.  However, if we don't have all the switches supported (yet) the flows have to be kept basic.

Not having the sim (yet) I cant really script any flows since I have no way of testing them. I feel sure we can get some nice flows going with this ship. Its an important aircraft that's used extensively all over the world and can access some lovely remote airfields/locations. Not to mention the sim is good value (compared to some...) for the many versions available...

Includes float, amphibian, wheel/ski and tundra wheel models
•Easy on frame rates
•All models come with individual high fidelity flight models
•Detailed simulation of engines (correct indication for torque, RPM, ITT)
•Engine failure modes
•Custom electrical, fuel and hydraulic systems
•Detailed sound environment with dozens of additional sound effects
•Detailed avionics suite with Bendix King transceivers, Collins autopilot (fully realistic) and Digital Flight Data Recorder (that exports to Google Earth)
•Many additional features: fully featured paint kit, extensive manuals, fuel planner, cargo loader module, livery manager etc.

Tipella (freeware Orbx) springs to mind. If anyone flies Amphibs then this is one of the greats. ( I would like to live there! :P)Then there is Water Runway Heaven (Orbx NZNI), complete with leaping Dolphins. These places require an Amphibian. Unless you have access to a PBY then the Amphib Twotter is perfect.

I will be converting to this type later this year! B)

Cheers

David

you need the FTX PACIFIC FJORD to fly around the Tipella (CBBT) , it is about 52 Nm from CYVR (I used to live in North Vancouver), you are right what a beautiful landscape up there, , especially with the Twin Otter Amphibs, eventhought without MCE :P

nice to hear that you will make the script for this bird,  looking forward for the script. :yahoo:

  • 6 months later...

Just to add some, Maldives from Aerosoft : a nice place to fly the twin amphibian

Concerning commands, some are not standard. Ex : full flaps or flaps up work but not flaps ten, 20 and so... passengers signs, fuel pumps don't work and so on...

Luckily Gerald wrote in the forum that the twin would be done in 2015. Great ! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/374883-which-aircraft-would-you-like-to-see-interfaced-in-the-future/page-9?hl=%2Btwin+%2Botter#entry3078404
