February 15, 200521 yr I am interested in buying the Jetline 2 just to put it in Samuli's panel. If anyone use it I would really appreciate comments and a pic if possible. Also, for what other panels do you use it? And do you also have Jetline4?Thanks,Leo
February 16, 200521 yr I have both the JL2 and 4.I use the JL2 in twins like the Saab 340B where the original EADI suffices (but you have to install the JL2's off screen for the suite to work).I use the JL4 o in part or all on the RJ-45 and CRJ-200 regional jets, and also planning another on a 757-200 regional jet.The JL2 is also appropriate for the newer turbo-prop semi glass cockpits advanced single engine GA.FYI, I also use Reality-XP's Apollo50 GPS for its clarity and small space taken up on a GA or other busy panel. The weather radar WXP-500 is also nice when you must fly in bad weather and need to steer around storm cells. You may wish to browse their support forum for comments:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_topics.asp?FID=12
February 16, 200521 yr Thanks for your answer. Yes I have been browsing their forums since I bought the Garmin 530 and had some problems to install it (solved that fortunately)I saw in the users files that someone uploaded a JL2 config for Samuli's MD80 and also a lot of configs for the JL4.I am planning to install the Garmin 530 in those AC that don't have a FMC, since I am informed it could work very much like one.So my question is also if the moving maps of the JLs can be individually installed in any panel.I didn't understand when you said off screen. Do you run it out of FS?Thanks again,Leo
February 16, 200521 yr I use the JL2 in the C421, C441, T38, SF 260, Seneca, F70...It can be installed into any panel with a little bit of attention to detail to get the best fit. Look for the recent JL review here at Avsim for pictures.. one attached.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/107021.jpg Bert
February 16, 200521 yr There is no moving map as seen on a GPS on any JL instrument. Maps with terrain features are in the Garmin and limited maps (nav related features including control zones and restricted areas) are in the Apollo 50. The EHSI can show waypoints, VORs, and airport symbols in its area of coverage as you move. If a flight plan is loaded into FS or it is coupled to a GPS, the plan with labeled waypoints will show on it. Perhaps the waypoints of the plan on the EHSI are what you refer to as the moving map? By off screen it means the instrument coordinates place it outside of the display viewing area but technically it is still on the panel. For example, for the RTU to work the EADI must be located somewhere, even if out of sight, on the main panel. Some instruments of the JL suites are interdependent so if you wish to have a similar instrument display this technique is a work around.
February 16, 200521 yr I am currently using the Samuli panel with the Reality XP JL-2 mods (as per the file available on their website under user files). It works very well and quite an improvement on the original if you prefer glass panels and moving map Nd's. The ND (EHSI) is a little small on my monitor (19in) but the Reality XP gauges allow pop-ups which fixes this if you find it a problem. Great panel and by far the best freeware MD panel available. You can fairly easily convert these gauges to other panels to gain the same improvements. Well worth the money in my opinion.Warren Warren
February 16, 200521 yr Thanks for your answers.I couldn't hold myself any longer and bought the JL2. It works really well and does exactly what I expected with some extras such as the TCAS. A good price (18) for an addon I've been looking for for ages.In fact I liked it so much I would like to know what are the improvements in JL4 since I might consider buying it too. If anyone can help me with this it will be really appreciated. Thanks,Leo
February 16, 200521 yr Hmmm... did you read the Avsim review? :-) http://www.avsim.com/pages/0105/RXP_Jetline/xpjetline.html Bert
