May 22, 201412 yr Come one, come all, don’t miss J. R. getting busted by Law Enforcement or better yet CRASHING. Nah! not on this one. I plan to cruise at about 900’ AGL to keep my JAFO from yelling at me “you’re too high! get down”. For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the acronym JAFO, it from the movie “Blue Thunder” And stands for Just Another Fu--ing Observer. Today I plan to do some preliminary testing as to what I can and cannot do after locating a clandestine flight, and whatever else comes to mind. I plan on AlbacoreTunaMan to host this flight with Weather: Clear Skies, Time: Day, Season: Summer, if he would prefer something else that would be fine with me, I’ll fly in anything. I suggested the above in case we should get any unskilled followers that come along. I will be flying the CCDlx in stock paint, so that everyone will be able to see the plane. After this flight ends if you would like I will hunt up another and show you how I usually fly a mission. Only the brave will be down on the deck in crash territory with me. I have kind of made Kodiak (PADQ) my base location for the time being. That’s where I’ll keep my plane parked. Feel free to drop by if you see me there. B) Tom, if you would pick a day and an approximate time (PDST), anytime would be good with me. “It’s A Good Day to Fly” and a good day to all! May 22, 201412 yr This sounds great Jack. I'm hosting a BBQ for 20 on Saturday, so that day is pretty much shot. Sunday looks good, 13:00 Pacific (20:00 GMT). Monday could work also. I'll have that weather dialed in. Interesting about Kodiak. I was there 3 years ago, over the Memorial Day weekend for some halibut fishing. Snotty weather kept us on the beach most of the time. I like Kodiak and want to go back soon. Huge Coast Guard Base.
May 22, 201412 yr Author 13:00 Pacific, which is 12:00 Mountain, 11:00 Central, 10:00 Atlantic is good for me. I will be in earlier then that to hunt up nice CM (Clandestine Mission) for are quest. Hope more will be able to make it with us. When I select an airport that has the mission, I will text the From and To locations. It will probably be best for observer to circle above. You will be able to find us on the map and jump in, if you do not know where the "from airport is" here in Alaska. B) Until then, always remember to lower your landing gear, if required! :p0502:  J. R.
May 22, 201412 yr Hmm, 13:00 Pacific, 12:00 Mountain, 11:00 Central and 10:00 Atlantic? Hey J. R., what planet are you on? On Earth we have 13:00 Pacific, 14:00 Mountain, 15:00 Central, 16:00 Eastern and 17:00 Atlantic! Blue skies & tailwinds, -Alan
May 23, 201412 yr Author Ok, someone else was just reading over my shoulder and ask me why I had put 'Atlantic is good for me. " and I told her, because it was funny to me, and she said, " just because you were born and lived 17 years in that time zone and you think it funny, other people won't, CHANGE IT". And I said " Yes Dear". In the original post 'Atlantic is good for me. ", drop the Atlantic, insert Eastern and lose the . Now where was I, oh yah, what planet. As to the incorrect time, I have absolutely no excuse I'll have to take the 5th on that. :LMAO:  On the brighter side, I found out that when I can find and select an airport with a CM and it will stay there as long as it remains the selected airport. You can back up and fly, but you can not change planes or from AK. to HI. J. R.
May 25, 201412 yr Hey Jack. Ran into a couple of problems. Let's rewind and try again later or tomorrow. I see quite a few people in multiplayer these days, and I'm probably flying with other Avsim members, but I wouldn't know because I don't know your pilot names.
May 26, 201412 yr Author I woke up at a little after 1am this morning to make a pit stop and my mind kick into gear analyzing the data of yesterday flying. With Toms help, I now know that on a CM (Clandestine Mission), that the observer with you cannot see the other planes in the air, only the law enforcement plane. Tom was following me on a CM, and when the law showed up, he was not able to see it. I had a couple of other experiences (also yesterday) that lead me to come up with this theory. I am seeing this as something along the lines of TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access, allocates each user a different time slot). The reason I see it this way, is that there were three people on missions that I went in on to observer. In each case the mission would end with them hanging up in the air with their ID tag on that plane. In two cases they changed planes and would take off. The other case was with PaPyCouCou. He was on a CM and I caught up with him shortly before he was about to land and complete the mission. Then to me he stopped his aircraft in midair, and he text me that it was very late and he was going to bed (he undoubtedly lives on the other side of the world from me, it was morning for me). I saw it displayed he had exited Live, and at that time his plane and tag hanging in midair disappeared. Now another example with SS. A person came into ATM’s Hosted session by the tag of [red wine baron]. I entered sometime after him at Kodiak, and when I did he text me saying “Hi mate”, (I assume he’s down Australia way). I text Hello back at him and he responded back with asking where I was at and I replied, at Kodiak, there was nothing after that So I went to the map to see where he was . He was about in the middle of Alaska so I moved my RV to where he was and hit fly. I flew alongside him for a short time, and he did not text anything. So I went into map and hit Multiplay to see if he was on a mission, he was doing a charter mission. (I never interfere with the pilots in Flight without du cause) When I returned to my plane I had to catch back up with him and he text me saying, It look you need some training mate This struck me as being a little arrogant, but I let it slide. I flew alongside him the rest of the way to his destination, and when he landed and completed the mission in his time slot, I my time slot he is seen hovering maybe 100’ above the runway. In this first SS I took, he has completed his mission and is just hovering there in midair. ATM is at Kodiak In this next shot to the left is his completed mission aircraft (Maule), and to the right he in the red and white RV without a name tag. I watch this happen. I was circling the hovering Maule when the red and white RV popped up next to it (I wish I had taken SS, maybe another time) and started to speed away. I changed to the P-51 so that I would have the speed to catch up with him; I knew that if I lost sight of him without the help of his tag to locate him, it would be near impossible. Well he finely lost me, so I flew back to where the hovering Maule was and ran my plane into it, which crash me. I hit fly popped back up to see the Maule was untouched. I then switch back to my RV and landed on the strip and just as I turn my plane around his RV crashes in in front of me. You know, I think I do need more training! J. R.
May 26, 201412 yr Strange things happen in this wonderful world Jack. By the time we get it figured out it will be gone. I now wish I had spent a lot more time in the mutiflyer world. Steve
May 27, 201412 yr Author Hey Steve When you go into flight and click on Multiplayer, a window will open up and show you as the Host. In this situation whatever your FREE FLIGTH settings are set at, is what other pilots coming into your hosted session are subject to. If you want to change anything in FREE FLIGTH, you can do so whenever you choose. Now if you want to look up a particular HOSTed session, say AlbacoreTunaMan, you would click on QUICK MATCH, this will put you into a hosted session by someone else. If it’s not the right session, you click on LEAVE MATCH. It’s kind of a process of elimination until you find who you’re looking for. When you’re in Multiplayer, you can hit the T key and a small window will open up and you can text chat with everyone in that session. Below is info. from the Flight Manual. Oh yah, One other thing, There are something you can't do while the text window is open like click on switches in the cockpit, all text info. will still appear on your screen. To chat with the group 1. Press T on the keyboard. 2. Type your message. 3. Press Enter to send. To whisper to a friend 1. Press T on the keyboard. 2. Type \w or \whisper. 3. Type the player’s gamertag. 4. Type your message. 5. Press Enter to send. 6. Type /r or /reply and then your response. Hope this is somewhat helpful, hope to see you in there. J.R. J. R.
May 27, 201412 yr To join a friend's session, press the "Home" key to bring up the GFWL menu. Select the Friends button. A list of your friends appears. If one of them is in game, this will be indicated by his name. Click on that friend's name and his profile and various options will display. Select "Join Session" and there you go, off to wherever he is. To find his exact location, choose Multiplayer when in the Map and you can either Target his Airplane to find him, or secretly View him flying without placing your airplane there. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
May 27, 201412 yr Thanks for the detailed info guys. Had a fun time playing cat and mouse with Luis yesterday flying through hangers. He said he had an Icon but I only say the UFO because of the repaint. We had a nice text chat, first time I have used that.Twice now people have hunted me down when I was parked. Steve
May 28, 201412 yr Author Thanks Luis, now I know a little more. Now I have to do is remember it. J. R.
May 28, 201412 yr I was flying a job and stopped in Quzinkie Alaska just because it was on the way to my destination to see Tunaman. But his RV was parked upside down on the ramp, must have been a wind storm. Two other aircraft were parked there. So off I went again to deliver my ever complaining passengers. Needless to say they did not like the unscheduled stop. Steve
