May 29, 201412 yr Hi everybody ! I've some trouble after re installing FSX with systematic crash to desktop when i use to fly. Actually, i 've created a new FSX.cfg file without any tweaks and no add ons. Always the same problem mainly when i close FSX. Windows 7 64 bit reports a G3D.DLL error each time. I downloaded FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.934 here but nothing's is better... Appreciate your help, thank you and sorry for my "frenchy" English ! After installing AppCrashView, here is the error report : ================================================== Fichier du processus: fsx.exe Nom de l'évènement: Fonctionnement arrêté Heure de l'évènement: 28/05/2014 22:43:52 Nom de l'utilisateur: All Users Code de l'exception: Décalage de l'exception: Nom du module fautif: Version du module fautif: Chemin de processus: F:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe Taille du fichier de rapport: 29 966 Chemin du fichier de rapport: C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_fsx.exe_733ee5318425b8164c44f3712be94a509e1bf92d_14a5eba7\Report.wer ================================================== Version=1 EventType=APPCRASH EventTime=130457834329780063 ReportType=2 Consent=1 UploadTime=130457834330680064 ReportIdentifier=c705b11f-e6a8-11e3-8fdc-d43d7e2a2530 IntegratorReportIdentifier=c705b11e-e6a8-11e3-8fdc-d43d7e2a2530 WOW64=1 Response.type=4 Sig[0].Name=Nom de l’application Sig[0].Value=fsx.exe Sig[1].Name=Version de l’application Sig[1].Value=10.0.61637.0 Sig[2].Name=Horodatage de l’application Sig[2].Value=46fadb14 Sig[3].Name=Nom du module par défaut Sig[3].Value=g3d.dll Sig[4].Name=Version du module par défaut Sig[4].Value=10.0.61637.0 Sig[5].Name=Horodateur du module par défaut Sig[5].Value=46fadb58 Sig[6].Name=Code de l’exception Sig[6].Value=c0000005 Sig[7].Name=Décalage de l’erreur Sig[7].Value=000a0ebd DynamicSig[1].Name=Version du système DynamicSig[1].Value=6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 DynamicSig[2].Name=Identificateur de paramètres régionaux DynamicSig[2].Value=1036 UI[2]=F:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe UI[3]=Une erreur irrécupérable s'est produite. May 29, 201412 yr You had the g3d.dll error and the only known fix is the fsuipc.dll. After a flight or after a crash, you might want to open up the fsuipc.log located in the Module directory and see how many times the g3d.dll was trapped and prevented a crash. Where were you flying when the crash(es) occurred? Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! May 30, 201412 yr Author Hello Jim and thank's for your short answer. Now, i'm at work, so i'll test the fsuipc.log tonight to have a look about the g3d.dll I was flying in little airports without any add ons when the crash occured. (Mainly when i quited FSX) I've also made researchs about the NVIDIA GeForce 660 Ti drivers because i upgraded the last driver updates when Nvidia suggested them, maybe a mistake??? I'll contact you tonight for more precisions Jim. Cordially. Loïc Loïc
May 30, 201412 yr I hate to say this but sometimes I appreciate folks who update their nvidia drivers so quickly and experience issues. I don't mean to sound sarcastic and mean, as my general statement just says that it usually takes those who are bold enough to do the upgrade to find out if it works or not. I get nervous when notifications pop up about updates these days. I keep getting my daily message from nvidia to upgrade the drivers and immediately, my ulcer starts to act up. I haven't done it yet because I live by the age-old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". While I am not a hard-core gamer, I mainly use FSX and since the driver I currently have is one step back from the new one and FSX runs just fine, I leave things be. If I may be so bold as to suggesting that you go back to the nvidia driver you had before and see if the problem still occurs. Looks like the model of graphics card you have has been out long enough that there should be a good stable driver that exists that you wouldn't have an issue with in FSX. If it helps, I too have had that problem with FSX crashing after a flight. I am also probably one of the 1% who still actually pays attention to the FSX default flight log too. Here lately though, despite using ORBX products, combined with payware aircraft and flying low and slow over the PNW, I haven't had a crash yet. Then again, I only recently re-installed my simulator. I guess it's all about accountability, knowing what you install and when and how it affects FSX. I know how easy it is to get lost in the fray when you have a ton of add-ons to install and you get eager to fly and then ultimately losing track of what was done...it happens. I'd be happy to lend a hand too. Good luck and keep us informed of your issue. May 30, 201412 yr Author Thank you Mister ! You're right : "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", sure i was too greedy... I'll try to put an old Nvidia driver when i'll be home tonight and i'll keep you informed. Loïc Loïc

June 1, 201412 yr That is the fsuipc configuration settings. The fsuipc4 log should indicate it is a text document of about 3 KB. To open it, you just doubleclick it. If there is no FSUIPC.log, then it is not properly installed as it is generated when you first start up FSX. There must be an entry in the dll.xml that enables the log when you start up FSX. If it was not installed properly then it has no chance of trying to trap and G3D.dll crash. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 1, 201412 yr Exactly! So the fsuipc is working correcting. Any crashes? I don't recall ever seeing a g3d.dll crash when shutting down FSX. It normally happens during a flight around the FTX Seattle area. There is no other known solution to this problem other than the fsuipc.dll (except reinstalling Windows and then FSX and all of your addons). June 2, 201412 yr Author Good morning Jim, Since i've reinstalled FSX Gold with a new FSX.cfg, no addons and no tweaks, i've a CTD each time i shut down the simulator... I was thinking about the NVIDIA driver because i did some updates when NVIDIA suggested them... So, i'm gonna try to install an old driver and i'll keep you informed before reinstalling windows and FSX. Thank's very much for your kindness Jim. Loïc Loïc
June 2, 201412 yr Since i've reinstalled FSX Gold with a new FSX.cfg, no addons and no tweaks, i've a CTD each time i shut down the simulator... That's extremely strange you are having crashes with that scenario. Are you installing FSX as per the following excellent guide - http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx? If UAC and anti-virus software is not disabled when installing fsx, you will most likely have problems. I would reinstall FSX in a folder like F:\FSX and see if that works. According to your crash report, you are installing FSX in a folder that is like the default Program Files (x86) folder but on the F drive instead. Is there a reason why FSX was not installed on the same drive as Windows (C:\)? You could have installed it in C:\FSX and then installed any addons on the F Drive. Let's just say your installation of FSX is not normal (to me). Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 3, 201412 yr Author Hi Jim, Thank's for your precisions, it seems to me i did some mistake reinstalling my FSX last time... First, i use a special hard disk (1To) especially for FSX, so the best directory will be : F\FSX ? (my first disk is for the OS Windows7-64 bit and less disk space) Is it possible, as you say, to install FSX Gold in the C Drive and all the future addons in the F Drive without having problems??? What is the UAC? i didn't disabled it, and the same for Avast anti virus during installation... I checked the "reinstall FSX" link and i'll use it in the future. Wana go for a best desinstallation and reinstallation and i'll tell you if there is a miracle ! Thank's for your patience and all your good tips Jim. Have a Nice day. Loïc from Normandy Loïc
June 3, 201412 yr What is the UAC? i didn't disabled it, and the same for Avast anti virus during installation... The best guidance for installing FSX is in the link I provided. PMDG recommends disabling the User Access Controls (UAC) and any anti-virus program and putting your fsx installation in a non-default location like C:\FSX. I have had no problems with placing fsx in the default location but I did disable UAC and I have never used an anti-virus program. Here's how to disable UAC in Windows 7 - http://www.wikihow.com/Turn-off-UAC-in-Windows-7. FSX can be installed on any drive on your computer. Hope this helps. June 4, 201411 yr Author Yesterday by night, i desinstalled FSX using the method provided here on Avsim forum. I did it well i think, the next step is the reinstallation according your precious advices Jim. Once the UAC and Avast antivirus are disabled, i proceed the FSX new installation and won't activate them anymore? If i well understand, they have to be disabled each time FSX is working??? My FSX directory will be F\FSX (the same for followings addons...?) because i've a lot os space on the F hard disk. i'll keep you up as soon as possible Loïc Loïc
June 4, 201411 yr Once the UAC and Avast antivirus are disabled, i proceed the FSX new installation and won't activate them anymore? If you want, you can reenable your anti-virus program. You might have to tell the anti-virus program FSX is a safe program or something like that. Not familiar with anti-virus program operations. You should leave UAC disabled. I personally have FSX installed in the main C:\ directory and have most of my addons installed on separate HDD's. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
