July 12, 201411 yr Good advice about the CM Hyper EVO 212, I wonder how well it would perform with the i7 4790K. About the extra case fans, I will look into that soon. Just this week have upgraded from a 2500K to a 4790K/Gigabyte Z97X-SLI board and went with the CM Hyper EVO 212. Without overclocking (yet) temps have been far lower than I expected. IE, right now at KBOS in the A2A Cherokee...40fps and temps at 37/43/39/34, no case fans, I just leave the side panels off. Scenery sliders at Very Dense. I am very pleased with this combo (along with the GTX780) and am surprised how everything runs much smoother/faster. Thanks, i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.

Sadly because of the budget, I have to drop the idea of ordering the EVO 212. However, I never overclocked before so I will think of a cooler sometime in the near future (same with the RAM and the GPU) (and I expect the change of hardware to happen somewhere around early or mid 2015). July 18, 201411 yr Author I finished upgrading my PC. There are some difficulties with the build. First, when I tried to fit the I/O Shield in the Corsair 300R but it won't fit even if it is in the correct way. So I tried sliding it in from the outside (which worked and the USB connectors is still pluggable). Also, another difficulty is that one cable in my PSU is too short (that one connects to the CPU, plus the Z97 PRO Wi-Fi AC utilizes 8 pins while my PSU only has 4 pins). I resorted to swapping my 750W PSU with another PC (which is made by Cooler Master and has 500W but has enough to power my new PC). I noticed all the cables in the Cooler Master are twice as long as the 750W PSU (which made me conclude the 750W PSU should be used for Micro-ATX PCs and the Cooler Master PSU for ATX PCs) and there are 8 pins for the CPU (despite both PCs probably made in the same year (in 2009)). Also, I purchased and downloaded Prepar3Dv2 and so far, I am getting good frame rates (if the cloud and terrain shadows are set off that is). Also, for performance, I lowered the cloud draw distance from 80nm to 70nm. I did some tweaking (only from the Prepar3D Tweaking Guide) and set the Affinity Mask to 14 (I set Hyperthreading OFF after I posted this reply so I am going to test Prepar3Dv2 again tomorrow), set Widescreen ON, set TextureMaxLoad to 6 and Swap_Time_Out to 30.
