No way forward for P3D and me

Recommended Posts

If the sim runs at less fps than the monitors refresh rate (mostly 60 Hz -> 60 fps) the missing frames will look like stutters. That's not something to argue over but just a technical fact. Only technical solution would be the 1/2 refresh rate Vsync available in FSX (if you can at least maintain > 30 fps). People who claim otherwise just don't see the stutters but they are there. They must be there.

In the end it's just a question whether you can live with this not 100% smooth experience or not. I've reached a point where I can except the microstutters (if you don't look for them you might actually reach a point where you "don't see them" most of the time) because P3D offers so much more than FSX. Especially for GA flights. However, if you want a 100% smooth experience than P3D might not (yet) be the way to go. In this case a properly tweaked FSX will give you a smoother flight experience. But you also miss all the nice things like cloud shadows, cockpit shadows, volumetric clouds, great stability, etc. I guess, it's just a give and take...

Sorry to hear about your frustration. I have not made the leap to P3D yet, as I'm still getting plenty of joy from a well-tuned FSX. Hope you get things sorted.

I have P3D running very smooth -a2a 172 - alabeo products - aerosoft axe - but no fsdt - FB stuff loaded that may change very quickly  unfortunately - just downloaded FB new installers - scared to load them  :)  lol I do have KBOS loaded no problems

Oh P3D was worth the price of admission just due to the fact that the ground textures at altitude are far superior - crisp and clear looking beauty - FSX was a blurry mess - I have been seeing some blurriesn the AXE but I will get that worked out

HEEEY, feallas, I got it sorted!! I have to admit at being a dipstick   what I thought was Aero enabled, was indeed a theme below! After correctly enabling Aero, I am now flying without tearing  So I'm now embarking on the road to installation... and it all happened on my birthday! Nice pressie eh!  Thanks for everyone's patience and help, cheers...

You took the words right out of my mouth. I will trade those micro stutters (that LM will fix eventually) for everything else. AM=15 + Adaptive + 4SGSS does it for me. Also running ASN w/3 cloud layers. Fixed the REX horribly blue Pacific Ocean w/textures from another program. Looks like the Pacific now.

Flew from KLAX into KSFO in the ES Citation X a few days ago at twilight; scary real.

I uninstalled FSX this morning and I'm not going back.

Cheers,

Mark
