June 9, 201411 yr Hey avsimSo I finally enabled dx10 preview in fsx and followed the guide here http://mutleyshangar.com/reviews/bc/dx10/dx10.htm, as well as forum.avsim.net/topic/421849-dx10-fixer-atiamd-aa-and-vsync-guide/. However when I am flying i get some artifacts such as http://i.imgur.com/OMoRhrP.jpg. Is this normal or am i doing something wrong
June 10, 201411 yr No, that's not normal but I have no suggestions. Be patient with Dx10 and it will reward you. Follow Paul's guide to the letter. Check out the DX10 forum right here at AVSIM. Randall
June 10, 201411 yr You're using ATI, so not sure what to suggest other than check that your drivers are up to date. Stick with it though - DX10 is worth the effort!
June 10, 201411 yr I have this problem since windows 8 update to 8.1 DX10 was my choice because it runs smoother (AMD R290), looks better, and I could use AA with SweetFX. Now SweetFX doesn't allow DX10 (no option in FSX), and when I get rid of it and use vanilla DX10, I get artifacts. I can only use DX9 without AA, otherwise SweetFX won't work. Well, it's time to try P3D. I heard it looks on AMD cards a lot better then FSX. Mariusz Wrzos

June 12, 201411 yr You have to go back to older drivers 12.11 i think from memory http://forum.avsim.net/topic/422802-serious-issue-with-ati-and-steves-dx10-fix-tears-and-spikes-everywhere/ Michael Michael Moe
June 12, 201411 yr I'm not going back. I also play other games. On cat. 14.4 I get 50% more fps in DCS World. And P3D on AMD is insanely smooth and looks fantastic, compared to FSX. Huge improvement. Mariusz Wrzos
June 12, 201411 yr For the guys having this problem, if you target frame rate isn't set to 30 in FSX, try setting it to 30. I get those artifacts under certain conditions when my Vsync is set to 1/2 refresh in NVIDIA but my frame rate is set to 31 (a recommendation I read at some point which came back to bite me). June 16, 201411 yr Problem is the AMD Driver. For DX10 you have set AA to 4x in Steve's DX10 scenery fixerand in FSX the Water Low 2.x But SweetFSX works with AA in DX9 Mode. you need to configure AA via the catalyst control center and deaktivate AA in FSX
