June 21, 201411 yr Author Last week on teamspeak, Ron said something about us all using a PMDG type as long as it started with a "7". Also... he mentioned us all using ASN so we all could share the experience of having the most realistically depicted weather. That's perfectly true, I DID advocate the use of something with a bit more substance. Then I came to my senses! As for the weather, REAL is the only way to go so I guess that makes ASN obligatory. I have no preference as to aircraft, but keep it to one that doesn't do a lap of the island while the rest of us are still on leg 1. Has anyone made any changes to the route? I confess to it being a fairly arbitrary scribble across the map. :( Don't forget to change FTX Central to 'Oceania'. EDIT: Mike I love you! I was about to make an FSX .pln when I saw your post. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
June 21, 201411 yr I seem to remember a challenging airport in the Tasmanian highlands with a steep uphill landing that might be worth a brief detour en-route. Mount King William III (YZKW). We could fit it in after Strahan (YSRN). | Windows 11 | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | i9-14900K | RTX 4090 | 64GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 | 4TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | 2x 4TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | CORSAIR AX1600i ATX Titanium | LG C2 42 Inch 4K OLED |
June 21, 201411 yr Jeff, this is a wonderful addition. Mount King William III (YZKW) presents a splendid challenge. YZKW is an OZx strip and thus is not naturally in the FSX database. (For pilots' convenience, I have added YZKW as a waypoint in an alternate Tasmania flightplan, Tasmania_a.pln, in the same Dropbox-located zipfile. Simply download it again here. ) --Mike MacKuen

The flightplan (Tasmania mod1.pln) is in teamspeak in casual flights file browser. | Windows 11 | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | i9-14900K | RTX 4090 | 64GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 | 4TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | 2x 4TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | CORSAIR AX1600i ATX Titanium | LG C2 42 Inch 4K OLED |
June 21, 201411 yr Hi guys, Please could you check on where you got this Mount King William YZKW airport scenery from? It's not in FSX as we know, and I've just installed the Ozx scenery package and there's still no sign of it. Before anyone asks, yes I've activated the Ozx scenery, all the others are there but no YZKW. I could also find no mention of it in any of the Ozx manuals. Edit: yes, it's there. It's not fully set up as an airport so it's not listed anywhere, but the visual scenery is there.
June 21, 201411 yr Nick, Your installation is probably fine and YZKW is probably there, but there is one more step you need to follow in order for the airfields to show up in the FSX flight planner. June 21, 201411 yr Jeff, from the TeamSpeak server please try "Tasmania mod2.pln" -- the revised version has the airstrips that you mentioned...I think. --Mike MacKuen
June 22, 201411 yr Today was fun. I think the visibility issues we all had just added to the experience. I really enjoyed getting used to the idiosyncrasies of the Lancair Legacy. Sweet plane, but you really have to manage the speed/energy. Looking forward to next Saturday at Yellowstone. Sorry I had to bail early, but Saturdays afternoons are when the wife and I do our weekly hunting and gathering. Since I do the cooking, I have a vested interest in what we buy to cook with. June 22, 201411 yr Author Despite Virgin Media taking exception to my 'feedback' and knocking out my internet for 25 minutes, (That'll teach me to be nice in future  ) it turned out, quite frankly, better than I expected. As Craig said, the visibility was...interesting. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
