June 18, 201411 yr Hi Guys Lately I'm noticing a lot of "fatal errors", where the sim freezes for a few seconds before getting the "fatal error" message and then CTD. I believe this is different to an OOM, but am unsure what causes this problem? I never got it when running in DX9 mode. Is this a common issue? Does anyone have any tips as to what causes it? Many thanks
June 22, 201411 yr Been getting a few of these errors lately myself. Pushing a couple of tweaks hard, such as texture_bandwidth_multi in fsx.cfg and think that might be it. I have a relatively new build and I'm trying to see what I can get away with. Back off settings or tweaks and see if the error returns. Randall
June 22, 201411 yr You need to look in the event viewer to see what caused the CTD. Could be a NTD.dll error. I have had those with bad AI planes when using MTX. But now gone back to UT2. Ntd.dll errors can be hard to pin down, but Dx10 fixer as the cause is highly unlikely, but not impossible. June 22, 201411 yr I was getting the ntdl.dll using the MTX 2013 schedules. Reverting back to the 2012 schedules solved that issue. No fix that I am aware of. AI traffic is a serious suspect in my case. The support forum for MTX was also mentioning video drivers. I haven't tried it again since upgrading all the video drivers over the past year. Like Badfinger, I'm pretty sure it's not the Fixer. Danny
June 25, 201411 yr Author Hi All I've looked through event viewer and almost all of my "fatal error" CTDs are caused by: C:\Windows\system32\d3d11.dll Does anyone know the fix for this issue? Thanks

June 25, 201411 yr See AVSIM CTD Guide, page 7:D3D11.dll – Remove Windows Update KB2670838. CTD occurs with SweetFX installed. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! July 1, 201411 yr getting tons of d3d11 fatal errors. Uninstalled that KB and couldn't even open the free flight window before getting another fatal error. Had to reinstall it to make FSX usable again. Trying really hard to pin this down, 'cause right now I'm literally plagued by crashes. I found out running "windowed fullscreen" (using any of the available tools, pretty much tried 'em all) makes fatal error occur sistematically, but I managed to crash once even running regular fullscreen or in a normal window. Pretty much at wit's end here, the real solution to this seems pretty elusive for me atm.
July 1, 201411 yr As indicated in the AVSIM CTD Guide, a CTD occurs with SweetFX installed even though you remove that offending KB. This doesn't happen all of the time though and it could be that your SweetFX was not configured properly as many have the d3d11.dll and SweetFX coexisting without issues. But there have been reported instances where removal of SweetFX fixed the problem. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
