June 22, 201411 yr I used a variety of addons for FSX like FEX and FSWaterConfig - are there any textures for P3D you guys recommend? The water looks pretty good by itself and it almost appears as if there are waves when you're on floats... pretty neat. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
June 22, 201411 yr There ARE 3d waves if you set water to highest and there is some wind. The best water texture set contains REX4 Texture Direct in my opinion, but from above water looks not as good as in FSX. This is P3D fault. Maby they will improve it later. Frank
June 22, 201411 yr "FSWaterConfig " Dont try that with P3D - they mess it up - as for water textures only thing would be rex4 for now I guess - maybe LM will make some updates to the water in the future Rich Sennett

Thanks for that and for the advisory Rich. Are the waves dynamic in nature? Meaning more wind = larger waves? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
June 22, 201411 yr "Thanks for that and for the advisory Rich. Are the waves dynamic in nature? Meaning more wind = larger waves?" ========================================================== Good question Ryan - been so busy getting P3D running as well as I can I have not really looked into it - but from what I have read yes it depends on wind to get some chop - but I am just guessing as my priorities have not gotten to the water yet as LM is probably going to make it better in the future - thinking eventually it will blow fsx water away - lets hope Rich Sennett
June 22, 201411 yr Author Yeah it can almost look like that PR FSX DX10 shot - I think it was in Canada or Washington state.... June 22, 201411 yr Ah the infamous fake picture lol - now that would be something in flightsim but probably not practical brother Rich Sennett
June 22, 201411 yr Commercial Member Are the waves dynamic in nature? Meaning more wind = larger waves? That is the case, but you have to have tessellation on and water set to ultra. Give it a try, it is pretty interesting to see that. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
