Airline2Sim acquires Aurasim Q400 EFB

Featured Replies

Guys, I'm delighted to announce that today we've agreed to acquire the Dash 8 Q400 Performance Calculator/EFB along with the brand assets of Aurasim. The future of this service was in question due to the Aurasim guys moving on to new things in life but we're pleased to report that the ability to obtain super-realistic performance data for your Q400 will be around for a long time to come.

With that, I do need to point out that we will not be able to offer the EFB as a free service in future due to the costs of licensing, hosting and administrating what has become a significantly large site. The Aurasim guys have invested time, money and love into keeping the EFB free for many months but as with all good things this is purely the reason that it cannot continue in its current form. The options were simply for the site to close, with the loss of all the Aurasim guys' hard work or for it to continue in new hands but with a different model where the site could support itself.

Therefore for a small yearly membership fee you'll be able to enjoy the Q400 EFB, discounts off Airline2Sim training products, membership of the upcoming Q400 Airline2Sim shared cockpit flight deck team and discounts off future EFB products, including the Boeing 777 which will continue in development. The 777-200LR EFB is almost complete and we'll be working hard to complete this, along with providing data for the upcoming 777-300ER.

We're finalising more details over the coming weeks and will keep you posted. We don't anticipate any disruptions in service for existing users while the transfer takes place.

Sounds fair. I've been using the program for a long time and was already a little bit worried.

Would it be possible to use it as an external program then (like Topcat) instead of the web-based version?

Also, the option to perform intersection takeoffs (maybe just by modifying the runway length remaining) would be great, especially with less load you can save a good amount of time, but the calculations are useless then..

Guys, the Aurasim app has now moved into our ownership and we hope that there weren't too many disruptions whilst the site was transferred.

It will continue to be free for the next few weeks and an announcement on pricing will be along shortly.

Cheers
