A BIG thank you to PMDG

Good morning to the staff at PMDG,

First off, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for yet another amazingly developed product you have put to market with recent release of the 777-300ER!! No other developer in the area can even come close to what you have done!

I have been using flight simulator for years - dating back to very first releases of the product (probably dating myself), sprinkled in a few flavors of Flight Unlimited and Chuck Yeager's to round things off. I can still think back to the days of your first release of the 737 when I was playing with the Level D 767 and was truly amazed at how far flight simulator had come from the days of the a fore mentioned products!!

Rewind to last year when you released the 777-200LR. To say that I was blown away would have been an understatement Having just completed training with a flag carrier in Canada as an RP on the trippler, it was nothing short of amazing to be able to play with this machine in a way I could never do at work - unless I didnt like the captain and wanted to get him violated!!. Everything from the electronic checklist to some of the modelling in the aircraft is - not surprisingly - second to none!! However the 200LR was not without issues. I found the airplane a bit "sloppy" compared to the real thing but fast forward to Friday - all that went away. I don't know how you guys did it but the 300ER is truly amazing. Everything looks and feels just like the real thing!!! The sounds in the cockpit at preflight and start-up are just as they are in real life. Without actually checking, I will go so far as to say that I think you managed to get the timing of the wiper blades down perfectly as well.

The reprogramming of the FBW system and the feel of the aircraft both in flight with automation and without is amazing. I took the trippler on a short haul flight from BFI to YVR manually with essentially raw data (partly to keep up my skills and partly - well lets face it - cause I can in the sim) and it brought a smile to my face. Sadly, not my wife's face as I was a pretty absent partner all weekend putting the 300ER though its paces.

I would HIGHLY recommend to any virtual pilot to load up the aircraft and take it to an altitude of 18,000 feet or so and configure it for landing and preform some maneuvers - slow flight at REF - 360 degree turns maintaining altitude - clean stalls - power on/off stalls - change the configuration up too - all the while flying the machine by hand. If you want a really good feeling of what this aircraft is like to fly - the do as I suggested. You will be amazed too.

Lastly, I am guilty of submitting a frustrated post a few months ago about the lack of information coming out of launch control (PMDG head office) and for that, my most sincere apologies!! As it turns out and as history has indicated - good things come to those who wait.

PMDG - thanks again for a truly amazing simulation of an amazing machine.

Enjoy your cold beers as you have deserved them - just make sure they are Canadian as our beer is better :)

For those of you who have asked what my profile picture is all about - it is me doing to W&B on an MD80 I used to fly for the now defunct JetsGo!!

+1

I've gotten a lot of criticism for the time that I spend flying this aircraft. I had no idea how realistic it was. Clearly, money and time very well spent. Thank you sir.

+1 and thanks again for enabling the Datalink function for the sometimes forgotten users who use straight FSX FP and Wx :)
