August 2, 201411 yr I would say the odds of PMDG coming up with a v2 of their 747 kinda fell by the wayside. I am a freight dog and would really like to have a freighter version of FS2C. There used to be a posting on here (somewhere) for a mod to allow the use of the button control in the freighter version but I think that was only for FS9. Anyone got anything? -Rick
August 2, 201411 yr I would say the odds of PMDG coming up with a v2 of their 747 Is 100% still planned for the future. However considering the usual timeframe of this company based on previous experience (Since 2002 they have produced 7 products and 3 expansions) and the fact that a 777 expansion product was released a couple of weeks ago... literally... the 747 will be here in 2016. An average of just under 2 years per product is pretty standard here. They might surprise us this time, but I wouldn't count on it. They have NEVER had 2 new product releases just months apart other than the expansions. August 2, 201411 yr Author Only positive on the slow release times is that the product the DO release are amazing and top quality. I've got everything they've ever made starting with the B1900 and have enjoyed ever one.
August 2, 201411 yr It's coming Rick. Just a stab in the dark, but I made a prediction a couple weeks back that RSR would provide us with a 744v2 late night update on or around Labor Day weekend. They are working on SP1b/SP1c updates, not to mention catching their breaths. I'm just as anxious as you to hear more info on it...hang in there Chris Sunseri
August 2, 201411 yr I expect a 2015 release for sure Yep...I'll be landing the Queen night and day at Phoenix. Grab some ear plugs Jeremy Chris Sunseri
August 2, 201411 yr PMDG certainly have the quality and that quality takes time. The only thing that annoys me is that when they mentioned the 747 v2, it was before the 777. The NGX was the base platform and they stated that the 747 v2 and the 777 would be quick because of this. The 777 has been released but no word on the 747 v2. Add to that the Dash 8 that seems to have disappeared since the release of the Majestic version.
August 3, 201411 yr No matter for me: the PMDG 772 was the last centI sink into OOM-ing dead end FSX.
August 3, 201411 yr Think the 747 will be a lower VAS. The 772 and the 773 are both heavy hitters because of the systems, the checklists, the fly by wire and automated system all add to the memory footprint. The 747 is a bit more basic in the way the systems work.
