August 2, 201411 yr Just installed the full version of 1.010, not the patch. I'm using P3D 1.4, hence I'm here rather than support. I had the Dash working very well except for strange behavior in ORBX PNW near Seattle using 1.08. Thinking that maybe that issue would improve, I installed 1.010. Now I seem to be missing a set of sounds. I've installed both with and without the migration tool, and then started P3D both normally and under legacy mode. I'm missing the "bank angle" annunciation that I used to have upon starting up the Dash. No chimes for seat belts or no smoking, no sounds when doing fire tests (though I forgot what this sounded like!). No matter if I'm in VC or outside, the sound that I do have is identical. FSX is NOT installed and I no longer have a copy. Can anyone provide some help or options? James McLees
August 2, 201411 yr This started suddenly for me to (albeit in FSX), when I installed the v1.010 patch. Same thing; custom sounds (switches etc) disappearing after a few minutes of use. Oleksiy suggested I try a full re-install, using the full v1.010 installer (not patch) which I downloaded afresh from Just Flight. It resolved the sounds problem - but now, I have the dreaded "freezing of the sim" with the Q400, after 15 minutes of flight. My whole sim / PC locks up and the only way out is using the task manager, to kill the process. Although I'd read others suffering this issue, I'd never experienced it myself.... until v1.010. Q400 is currently unflyable for me, and I'm a desperate addict, going through cold turkey! It seems that perhaps the stuff that was added for P3D 2 has reduced stability when the plane is used in FSX. At least that has been my experience since v1.010 was released.
August 3, 201411 yr Q400 is currently unflyable for me, and I'm a desperate addict, going through cold turkey! I understand your withdrawal symptoms, I'm in a similar boat albeit, with P3D2.2. Have you tried installing the v1.009 over top of the 1.010? I have read on the Majestic forum that it works as a way of rolling back to the older version. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I may try it tomorrow. In any case good luck. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. regards, Jazz
August 3, 201411 yr Author Have you tried installing the v1.009 over top of the 1.010?I tried this and the installer said it could only be applied to 1.08. I'd like to see them allow the 1.08 installer to connect to the server. James McLees

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. regards, Jazz Hi Jazz, Unfortunately, I don't have a full installer for v1.009. The last full installer I had was v1.008 (which no longer works as Majestic have changed the licensing system in it, so old installers now return: "Cannot connect to server"), as I've used the patches only since then. So currently stuck with the full v1.010 installer, which results in the 'freeze ups' that I've never previously suffered. If there's no solution, I will have to ask Majestic for a full installer for v1.009, as v1.010 just is not stable on FSX, in my experience.
August 4, 201411 yr V1.010 will only work in P3D v2.2, trying to use it in older versions of P3D will result in problems. Older versions will work in older P3D versions but you can't install them now as they've changed the anti-piracy measures. The exception to this might be V1.009, if you can obtain the full installer I believe it will still verify okay with the server. ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
August 4, 201411 yr Just to say that, following my freezes, crashes and disappearing sound since v1.010, Majestic sent me some reduced VC textures (they're available on their forum too apparantly but I'm not on there yet), and also advised that TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD must be set to 2048 when flying the Dash. Mine was set to 1024 (not fussed about hi res textures), so I changed this to 2048 and installed the reduced VC textures. I honestly could not see any difference, visually, in the new textures (no worse or visibly lower resolution) so that's good. More importantly; I've just flown my first flight in 12, with absolutely no freeze, crash, nor loss of sound. [Happy Bunny] PS...... This is all on FSX by the way.

This is all on FSX by the way. .....and alas, although the above short flight was fine, on the next one I tried (1 hour flight) I lost all sounds after 10 minutes again. <_< So clearly the problem is not resolved. I hope Majestic can discover the issue and advise a fix as soon as possible. Losing sounds after 10 minutes was something that happened in the first few versions (v1.001 and v1.002) but I'd not had this issue then. But it's started exactly since I installed v1.010 even though Majestic are saying they've made no changes to the sound in v1.010. I believe them on that, but clearly something has changed, and the loss of sound is the symptom of a problem. As they're saying they cannot give me a v1.009 installer, the MJC Q400 is completely grounded for me now. Hope this gets sorted urgently for affected users.
August 4, 201411 yr What haven't you gotten P3D2? Are they required another purchase for that? Nathan Allen Pinard Virtual Pilot in Training Composer/Sound Designer www.nathanallenpinard.com
August 5, 201411 yr Nathan, the current version of the Q400 has a P3Dv2 install option included. Majestic decided not o charge for a P3D version of the Q400. With that being said, the older versions of the Q400 (1.008+) could also be installed into P3D without issue. It was just a matter of pointing the installer to your P3D install folder. You can install to both FSX and P3D, as long as they are on the same physical hard drive. Jazz ps, my apologies for the long winded reply.
August 6, 201411 yr Just a quick update on my Loss of sound problem;- Oleksiy kindly sent me an installer (required offline manual email activation) for v1.008, which I patched to v1.009.Ive tested the Dash with 5 flights and not had one single loss of sound issue, freezes or crashes. So I'm happy to stay with v1.009. But it does confirm that there is definitely something wrong with v1.010 for certain users. I am wondering if it's a Direct X issue now too.Majestic support is really responsive and first class.Cheers.
