Flight1 GTN 650/750

Featured Replies

I am curious to see if anyone tried replacing the G600 system or the GNS 430's with the flight1 GTN 650/750

Can it be done?

Is it a silly idea to begin with?

Can it improve or add funtionality to the seneca

The biggest problem I see, is that the knobs and buttons are not removable.. so, visually it is not going to work too well.  Now, having said that, you could squeeze two 650s into the holes for the 430s,

or more radically, you could put a 750 into the space for the G600 MFD.

Try it, and see if you like it!

I did not offer to do it... just suggested you might try.. ^_^

..and then let all of us know if it worked out, or not..

If you replaced the G600 with the GTN750 what would you use for flight instruments?

Ray, I am not sure this was a very good suggestion, to be honest, but if you were to replace the MFD, you would still have the PFD for your instruments  (but it may look a bit awkward..)

Probably a bad idea

I would much rather see a free radio area replace the dual 430s and maybe a little extra vertical room to squeeze a GTN750 in 3d between the two G600s..

It would be easier and a straight-forward upgrade for Carenado just to add an installer for dual GTN650 units to replace their 430s Heck these two are perfectly sized for retrofits in the real world. Just fix the 3d knobs.

This might be a marketing coup to support both Reality XP and F1GTNs and FSX and P3D. Woah!

I'd be very supportive of this indeed.  We need more support for the F1 GTN's.

To be fair, my current simpit setup has a 23" touchscreen either below or above my main monitor depending on weather I'm flying with a yoke or stick, so I generally have the popup open on it. If devs start supporting the F1 GTN's more, then I'd be left wanting crossfill on the GTN gauges from F1.  The lack of that is a bit of a downer.  I've managed to put dual 750's in a few planes, having one in the VC (replacing glass in a 530 spot) and another as a popup, but it's a lack of crossfill that really makes that not worth the effort.
