Prepar3d and DirectX11

Featured Replies

After reading lots of reviews of Prepar3d and they all seems to think that P3d is wayyyy better than FSX, I'm seriously considering buying it. However as I understand it P3d requires DirectX11 to run. I have an "old" Nividia GTX285 and I know it's Directx10 compatible, but what about D11X?

If not, what card would you recommend, and please not too expensive :-)

It's not way better than FSX IMO.

In some areas it is an improvement but if your main aim is to "simulate flight" then it is no different to FSX.

Visually it has some nice enhancements like cloud and terrain shadowing and the autogen doesn't pop up as it does in FSX. The weather looks nicer as well but you'll pay for all that with reduced FPS unless you run a high end PC.

The main selling point for me is that P3D is continually being developed unlike FSX which is sadly as dead as a dodo.

Hope this helps. Let us know your thoughts once you've bought P3D and installed your new card?

Wayyy better? Not sure about that one. As far as my rig is concerned, dx10 is still out performing v2.3 under load. As soon as all my Orbx addons get installed performance seems to tank once again in P3D in areas that run butter smooth in dx10. I have a suspicion that Vector may be a big factor in this.

I'm not sure what to make of P3D tbh. Runs great vanilla with shadows and all, untl addons are added to the fray.

+1 have kept FSX with Steve's DX10 fixer installed in case I get sick of P3D again ;)
