August 25, 201411 yr Hi all I have recently purchased X-Plane 10 Global from my Steam account but not been able to fly yet and it is so frustrating. All the default planes just end up going around in circles and nothing more as I do not have any control what so ever?I cannot taxi, fly or anything apart from sit in an aircraft :( No I don't have a set of peddles and I only have a 2 axis joy stick. No where did I read or see this being mentioned any were? The demo appeared to work OK, I took off flew around and was wow'd. But now I beginning to think this purchase was a mistake! I understand all about the yaw and rudder as it is a 'Realistic' flight model but if you do not have any yaw controls is this not something we could disable/dampen until the time we do have said items so we can still enjoy what looks like a great sim? So far my experience is not a great one and becoming more frustrated every day Hopefully some one could help or is this really such a lost cause? Is there anything at all I can do to fly as after all this is why I bought the product? If not will steam give me a discount I wounder?? Wish I could bring something positive to the post but currently I don't have anything :( Thanks in advance Graham
August 25, 201411 yr Hi Graham, Sorry about your problems. I haven't had the problem you mention. Have you calibrated your joystick? Go to an external view (shift +4) and see if the controls move when you move the joystick. That's about all I can think of now. Good luck in solving the problem. Jim Morgan

Hi Thanks for the reply yes apart from the Rudder / Yaw everything else seems to work but on any of the aircraft as soon as I apply power it turns to the right which I cannot correct so just end up going around in circles that's it cannot do anything else :( Is there any other settings I have missed or how do I apply Yaw to the keyboard for joystick? I am only assuming this is the issue but why else would it pull to the right constantly?
August 25, 201411 yr Try going to the local map setting a decent altitude and airspeed......see if you can enjoy some flight that way.... Usually yaw is needed on the majority of takeoff and landings just part of the sim experience.....
August 25, 201411 yr Hi Graham, as you haven't told us which aircraft you're using I think it's a single piston engine airplane such the C172, so the torque will give you this effect. I haven't X-Plane running right now as it's sleeping time here in Italy, please check the key assignment in the Joystick sub-menu so you can use the keyboard to manage the rudder. Angelo M. Maggio
August 26, 201411 yr Hi Graham, Try a twin engine aircraft - like the Baron B58 or KingAir 90B and see if that doesn't help directional control. Also, the Cirrus Jet will be easy to control. Sometimes , I just go to the local map as jspahn suggests. Put in a safe altitude and airspeed and see how the controls function. Maybe, X-Plane will put in auto-rudder to help lower the learning curve or until one gets rudder pedals in the future. Jim Morgan
August 29, 201411 yr I only have that problem in tail draggers as you have to use rudder imputs to keep straight. It does also happen on tricycle gear aircraft but to a lesser extent. Now I would suggest as others check to see if you have enough dead zone on your axis's if you are flying tail draggers slowly apply the throttle. here is a calibration setup information from X-plane http://www.x-plane.com/?article=configuring-flight-controls Its all i can think of.
