September 6, 201411 yr Hi, I am currently using FSX, but am having massive problems with it freezing in flight. Sound continues, aircraft continuing flying and after 5-10 mins it returns to normal. How stable is Prepar3d v2? Cheers Rob
September 7, 201411 yr P3d v2 is stable for me but then again I never had the problems you do when I was on FSX. No one can really Answer your question I am afraid. The only way you can find out is by giving it a try. LM offer a refund within xx days if you are not happy.
September 7, 201411 yr Commercial Member For me P3D is more stable than FSX. Worth giving it a try as you can take advantage of the 60 day refund policy. Remember though, P3D is not FSX so do some reading on the forums so you can understand that the tweaks needed to coax FSX to work better are not needed in P3D. P3D, however, does require a capable graphics card as much processing is done on the GPU. Also, when you install P3D, it is recommended to run the platform vanilla and get it stable. From that baseline you can start to install add-on software, but install one at a time so you can see the effects on performance. Often times new people load all of their FSX add-ons, which some simply to not play well with P3D (because P3D is not FSX) and then they have a devil of a time trying to figure out what went wrong when all along they had incompatible software loaded that caused things to get hosed up. So the moral of that is to install things that work in P3D. Best of luck if you decide to give it a try. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations

September 7, 201411 yr P3d v2 is stable for me but then again I never had the problems you do when I was on FSX. Same here. Sounds to me you have a PC problem which means you can run into the same problems with P3D. P3D won't solve computer problems...!
September 7, 201411 yr I had the same problems as the OP, with the same symptoms, although FSX never continued on after the halts; a brand new i7 computer (the one I'm using now with P3D) did not fix the problem. P3D Version 1 had the same issues (for me at least), probably because it came from FSX (ESP). I never found out what was causing the apparent halts. P3D Version 2.3 has only crashed once, because of an incompatibility with Active Sky Next, since fixed. I have flown very long flights (5-7 hours) with P3D and the ORBX Global scenery add-ons and ASN. P3D is more stable than any MS Flight Simulator (except for MS Flight) I have ever flown. Frans
