  1. Use FTX Central to turn on "Vector Road Lights".
  2. ORBX street lights can be adjusted in size, color, and intensity via the FTX Global Lights Configurator. Frans
  3. You can try editing the airports with the Airport Design Editor - it will let you add runway and approach lights. Frans
  4. I had the same problems as the OP, with the same symptoms, although FSX never continued on after the halts; a brand new i7 computer (the one I'm using now with P3D) did not fix the problem. P3D Version 1 had the same issues (for me at least), probably because it came from FSX (ESP). I never found out what was causing the apparent halts. P3D Version 2.3 has only crashed once, because of an incompatibility with Active Sky Next, since fixed. I have flown very long flights (5-7 hours) with P3D and the ORBX Global scenery add-ons and ASN. P3D is more stable than any MS Flight Simulator (except for MS Flight) I have ever flown. Frans
  5. I use only ASN, and I love it. I have an old-ish computer with a 6GB 770, and I get about 30-35 fps when it is cloudy. Frans
  6. No, Terminal 2 is not there and there are no orphan jetways. The fsxcyyza airport compares well to the diagram in my copy of the Canada Flight Supplement (15 December 2011). You can download it from flyawaysimulation.com (free). Frans
  7. I also have FTX Global and Vector installed (but not My Traffic). I have a replacement CYYZ installed in the Addon Scenery folder (downloaded as fsxcyya.zip). I also have the ORBX ABP_CYYZ.bgl file; it probably came with the CYTZ (Toronto Island) airport. However, the Pearson buildings are intact. Frans
  8. My only suggestion is that you defrag the hard-drive where p3d is installed (unless, of course it is on an SSD). Reading the disk inefficiently could result in the CPU and GPU not to be fully active; the CPU may be waiting for disk I/O. Frans
  9. Already busy downloading - I hope I don't fall asleep... Frans
  10. Thanks, Arwen, that's what I needed to know. I hadn't noticed an FTX-compatible version on FS Pilot's web - maybe I will on the Flight Sim Store. Frans
  11. Arwen, I have been reluctant to purchase FS Pilot's FS Global 2010, since it is so large. I am worried that that dense data would seriously affect FPS. What is your experience? Frans
  12. I tried to update KMCD's taxiways with ADE 1.60, but when I tried to compile the result, the compiler reported errors and therefore could not update the file. Frans
  13. One possible reason for the patch failure, assuming you did everything correctly, is the presence of the ASN link. ASN is incompatible with 2.3. You have to either uninstall ASN or disable "as-srv" in the DLL.XML file and delete or rename the "as-srv" folder in the P3D folder. This happened to me also. Frans
  14. Yes, I did follow Rob's instructions, and I have not yet installed FSUIPC. Frans
  15. That's interesting, Maarten. I did have ASN running the first time I executed P3D after I had installed all of the ORBX stuff; P3D crashed. The next time (and all following times), when I did not have ASN running, P3D still crashed; can I assume then that "as_srv" in the dll.xml file belongs to ASN? If so, this is consistent with your case. So you actually had to uninstall ASN to get P3D to work? This sounds very encouraging, although I really love ASN. Frans Maarten, you are a genius. I disabled "as_srv" in the dll.xml file and also renamed the "as_srv" folder in the P3D folder, and behold P3D 2.3 WORKED for the first time. Frans
  16. After the 2.3 patch caused P3D to crash repeatedly, I downloaded the full version and re-installed (after uninstalling the patched 2.3) P3D. I restored my flights and controls files, as well as my scenery and aircraft addons. All worked well. Next on my list was all of the ORBX stuff (Global, Vector, LCEurope, free airports, and Libs). This all took quite a while. However, now P3D again crashes (without ASN running). The Event Viewer states that clr.dll in .NET faulted (exit code 80131506). I have no idea what to do about this (apparently the patch crashes were caused by exactly the same error). Does anyone have a clue what the root cause of these errors might be? Needless to say, I have yet to see any improvements  ! Frans

  18. When I installed ORBX OpenLC Europe, I got very mixed results having 5 cores active out of 8 (4 physical cores, HT enabled). France and the UK were great, but Italy sometimes showed nothing but blobs of paint - no autogen at all, let alone the land-class stuff. Needless to say, I have been experimenting with my AM setting, taking off from the Rome airport and heading down the Tiber River at 250 kt and at 3000 FT. I have tried 4 settings: 255, 254, 253, and 252. 255 gave me the sharpest land-class, but sometimes with unacceptable stuttering. 252 had the least stuttering, but with slight blurring. However, 254 and 253 gave the best overall results. FPS was about 35 for all of these cases. I monitored the core usage, which was as expected: 255 used all 8 cores, 254 and 253 used 7 cores, and 252 used 6 cores. I will be doing a lot of flying in Europe over the next few weeks to see if my current settings (AM=254) continue to be correct. If it is, I will be buying the ORBX NA land class the day it comes out. Frans
  19. I hate to disappoint you, but the Air Traffic Controllers behave exactly the same way as in FSX; they even have the same voices. They vector you, but I don't think they use SIDs or STARs (again the same as in FSX). And yes, you still get batted around. Hopefully, version 2 (or 3) will have some ATC enhancements.
  20. As far as I can tell, ATC is exactly the same as in FSX, except that the ATC dialog has changed in appearance and it is always a separate window.
