CTD After Uninstalling & Reinstalling Audio Environment

Featured Replies

I heard there is an issue with the AI schedule as an AI is looking for a flight plan and cannot find it and it causes your app to freeze or shut down. There is a possibility of a bad AI texture or an airport AFCAD texture that MyTrafficX includes with their program.

Can confirm after a whole days testing, that with MyTraffic database deselected in FSX, no crashes all day, even with all previous suspects (AE & GSX) reactivated.

To clarify my earlier question please:

If I now want to switch to MTX 5.4b, and re start MTX in the FSX database, do I have to:

A: completely uninstall MyTrafficX and then re-install again from scratch, selecting the 2012 Schedule in MT Communicator, or can I

B:  automatically revert to 5.4b  just by launching the MT Communicator,  selecting the 2012 schedule, then reinstate the Mytraffic database in FSX i.e Don't need to fully unistall MTX first as its not a necessary step to actiovate  5.4b automatically (note: I have only just recently purchased MTX, so have never previously owned and installed an earlier release like 5.4b)?

Please advise.

Also having re installed Audio Environment and sitting just off the end of Lisbon's active runway in a Trike, the passing big jets don't seem to be making much noise as they approach, pass and start their taske-off run right beside me. Do I need to fine tune something or is the package just disappointingly short of its brochure hype?

Thanks again for your much appreciated feedback

Andrew

P.S Before you ask, these are UT2 AI and I have the UT sounds installed ok according to the Audio Environment Sound Package. Installer.

It sounds nothing like this:

A: completely uninstall MyTrafficX and then re-install again from scratch, selecting the 2012 Schedule in MT Communicator, or can I

B: automatically revert to 5.4b just by launching the MT Communicator, selecting the 2012 schedule, then reinstate the Mytraffic database in FSX i.e Don't need to fully unistall MTX first as its not a necessary step to actiovate 5.4b automatically (note: I have only just recently purchased MTX, so have never previously owned and installed an earlier release like 5.4b)?

Please advise.

Please do not select any schedules! They are loaded automatically when you install the program and nothing else is required using the MT Communicator. I uninstalled completely then installed 5.4a and then the 5.4b update. I set my traffic at 25% as recommended by the developer and I had every gate filled with aircraft and have never had any problems with crashes since doing this. I read where someone else followed my guidance and was shocked he too had tons of traffic. He thought he had to turn his AI up to 100% too.

So, leave the schedules alone. If you install the 2012 or 2013 AI schedule via the Communicator like I did once, you will be like me and find there is almost no traffic even at 100% because those schedules require the flight plans to be started for each AI around the world. Eventually, maybe after a couple of hours, the airports will start filling up as the schedules have flights coming in and going. Believe me, you will be surprised.

For AE sounds, make sure the sounds environment is turned up in your Sound settings. Other than that I have no suggestions other than to go to Flight 1 and post your issue there in the AE Forums.

Thanks Jim for your response, but this is where I'm a bit confused. I bought FSTrafficX from simMarket, which doesn't offer me any option of an earlier version to download. I just get offered 5.4c . Where did you get your a & b versions of the program from please?

I've had My Traffic X since it was born so I had previous versions. So I logged into my SimMarket account and found the original 5.4a versions.

Most are successful with the 5.4c version so that should be okay. Just don't install or load those schedules.

Sorry Jim, final clarification sought please.

I thought the prognosis was that 5.4c is the culprit here, as supported by your decision to migrate back to 5.4b on your system and the other Jim's message earlier in this thread and a lot of www forum traffic. Your last message seems to suggest that you believe that 5.4c should be ok and its the Schedules that are upsetting FSX.

Is that what you are saying please, or am I miss-interpreting your last message?

Thanks again for your kind forbearance

That's correct. It is my 'assumption' that it is an AI schedule and I read somewhere else that someone else assumed that too. It is why we have it as one of the solutions in the AVSIM CTD Guide. The developer of the product does not believe the schedules are the problem and he is still selling 5.4c so I'm not going to argue with him. I simply will not go back to 5.4c as it never worked for me. If we knew exactly what in MyTrafficX that causes this problem, I am positive the developer would post a hotfix or update. If you read in his forum, there are some who found that an object caused their problem and the hotfix the developer put out fixed their problem. It did nothing for me. The only thing I am positive about is that MyTrafficX has been known to cause ntdll.dll and StackHash crashes for me and many, many others as these crashes go away when MyTrafficX is disabled in the Scenery Library. Whether the developer will fix this or not is his decision. For me, 5.4b is the only version that is stable and I have not seen a crash since installing it.

Update 13/09/14

Tonight I decided to be brave and try again one more time to install 5.4c. Installed also the Patches54C carefully and none of the optional Schedules i.e 2012, 2013 etc.

As soon as I started a default Trike at Friday Harbor flight - CTD.

Tried to start the FSX default Trike at Friday Harbor flight several times more  - each time CTD.

Disabled MyTraffic in the FSX scenery library and immediately - No CTD's

I have retreated to a carefully pre- prepared Save Point - thank goodness!

FSX now performs faultlessly.

No doubt about it,  5.4c melts my FSX set-up.....
