How to increase performance on complex planes?

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I have Prepar3D V2.3. I've got no problems on default planes. My frames are about 30 and it's enough for me.

But on complex planes like Airbus Extended or PMDG's aircrafts, my frame rates drops to 16. I'm using some tweaks that I found on net. And also set texture quality to low but it doesn't make any dfference. My target fps is unlimited. What's the problem? What I have to do to use complex planes smoothly just like def. planes?

Thanks and regards.

Hey BTA, I'm in the same boat, but I have to remark to you and whoever re-designed the board that it really sucks not to be able to see people's PC configuration data to the left of the screen as we used to.

So, I ask you, what kind of equipment do you have??

My specs are AMD Phenom 1090T @3.5 ghz 8 GB RAM and 660Ti. It only happens in add-on planes. I have no problem with defaults.

At the risk of sounding like someone who knows what's going on inside the FSX voodoo (and I don't really)....even with the best graphics card, FSX is still primarily using the computer's processor to generate the visuals. When you have a complex aircraft, with lots of coding/programming, FSX has to take some percentage of that visual rendering processor and devote it to airplane processing. The only way I have been able to make complex aircraft like the VRS Superbug and Iris PC-21 play nice with the visuals is to turn down the visual settings. Primarily like autogen, cloud density, etc.

Hope this helps.

My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet

Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

It's ironic, a new sim comes out optimising the GC now at last but to run complex aircraft we have to start turning things down off......I live for complex airliners but like others just suffer with terrible performance with P3D and this keeps pushing me away back to FSX...

Version 2.3 was all about performance yet I keep seeing a lot of posts about how good the last version was........not sure if LM are being to clever here...no doubt they are on to it..

Wait and see....

All the best

Airbus X configurator / uncheck any checks in logging.

Just tried it but it doesn't make much difference. Only 1 or 2 fps.
