September 13, 201411 yr Anyone else seeing this tendency? I understand that turbulence effect was a feature but in my experience it's a bit overdone and annoying. I don't have a ton of experience in the aircraft but with a weight well within tolerance balanced fuel my Metroliner tends to make me seasick bobbing and weaving all over the place. I troubleshot it a bit and made sure accufeel wasn't the culprit but the only way I was able to get rid of it was to load a default clear skies weather theme. Aside from that using AS Next even with pretty fair weather (overcast 10knt winds 10sm vis) it seems to trigger the behavior. 5 to 10 degree swings on the artificial horizon with the ball in the turn and slip bouncing back and forth almost to the limits. I can see this with or without the A/P engaged and yaw damper on. This is on the P3DV2 model recently purchase post service packs. Just curious if this is normal or if I'm doing something wrong. September 14, 201411 yr You can change the turbulence in AS Next. Go to settings, wind options, turbulence effects scale. I have it set at 50%. Works well for me although I don't have your aircraft. Mick
September 14, 201411 yr Author You can change the turbulence in AS Next. Yes your right but then I'd need to remember to turn it back up a bit when using other aircraft. I think your on to something though. I believe I might be able to turn it down a bit in AS maybe say 75% and then really work on the DHM and RDM Settings (reducing them too) for my EZDOC profile I created for the Metroliner. I've noticed it too. Seems to be an incredibly difficult aircraft to fly. Watching other people's You Tube videos of I have seen this behavior too especially easy to spot the turn coordinator "ball" sloshing around even in what looks like moderate weather. There is probably some settings in the .cfg or air file that could be tweaked to reduce this tendency. I'd be happy with a 30-50% reduction but might be able to get to an acceptable level through ASN and EzDoc I'll try that route first because right now my Metro is literally a fair weather flyer and I know that's not true to the real machine. September 14, 201411 yr I do love the plane but always find it a bit hair raising on take-off..... it always seem to wobble in bank on rotation (even where weather is calm and VR speed is liberally high).
September 14, 201411 yr Author Well here is a bit of an update since I have been working with the aircraft quite a bit trying to get my Metro a bit more under control. I have eliminated my EzDoc profile as the cause by simply testing with and without it during the same session No issues there even though I did turn down the "gain" on both DHM and RDM effects just for spite. What I have learned is the aircraft is very susceptible to weather produced wind and turbulence. I was able to test this using the default weather themes without using Active Sky Next. Fair Skies (clears all weather) = no oscillations Gray and Rainy theme produced moderate to severe oscillations and of course the Thunderstorm theme caused the worst effects on the aircraft. With this in mind I opened up Active Sky and began adjusting some of the options just like Mick suggested above and found that I had to make a pretty healthy reduction to achieve the results I was happy with. Under Wind Options (and effects) I had to pull back maximum wind turbulence to 35 and the Turbulence effect scale to 30. This gave me a little motion on the instruments without having to keep one hand on an airsickness bag. I'll test these settings in heavier weather but for now I'm happy and think this is the way to go unless someone knows what to tweak on the aircraft itself to achieve similar results. it always seem to wobble in bank on rotation (even where weather is calm and VR speed is liberally high). I've noticed this too as well as on landing (floating) as if they set some special effects for when the aircraft is in ground effect? Thanks RE Thomason Jr.
