FSX crash on startup with no error message

Featured Replies

I've just installed some ORBX scenery and now can't start FSX without a CTD. There are no startup error messages or any related events noted in Windows Event Viewer. I just see the FSX logo for a few seconds and then the CTD.

I've renamed the logbook. bin - no joy. I've check the exe.xml and dll.xml files, which both look fine.

Here the contents of the log.log file in the FSX directory:

full path: E:\FSX\
redirecting CreateDevice
initiredirecting IDXGIFactory->Crdevice->GetBackBuffer failed
ader environment
D3DX10CreateEffectFromFile failed
try to use "E:\FSX" for shader files

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated, thanks.

Disable MyTrafficX in your scenery library and see if this fixes the problem (if you have MTX installed). If so, install the latest Addon Manager.

Install AppCrashview.(http://download.cnet.com/AppCrashView/3000-2094_4-75130093.html) This should help you identify the problem if nothing else can.

Thanks, guys. Thanks to my own impatience, I'm reinstalling FSX, probably long overdue. No MyTraffic installed originally in any event, and the AppCrashview download is a good tip, thanks.
