October 5, 201411 yr Generally I always find that rivers and lakes tend to appear in a light blue colours, whereas in real life and at altitude generally water would reflect and appear as a very dark blue and a range of shades to light grey. It could also appear as a brownish colour in some other areas. I have REX Essentials Overdrive and have tweaked water colours there but it doesn't always seem to work. Is there any other way of tweaking the watercolours in FSX? October 6, 201411 yr Author Hello Ric Thanks for the reply. You are right and that's my fault and perhaps a bit hasty in posting. A fellow simmer has since shown me how to customise the Ocean & Inland water textures with Rex Essentials Overdrive and now got the textures the way I wanted them. October 7, 201411 yr Author Would it not be too much effort to share this procedure with us ? Thanks. Not at all. REX has a Inland and Ocean Textures, when you click on them you can tweak the brightness and contrast for each and when you are happy with the result you can save them and load them into sim. They will then remain there until you change them. What I couldn't achieve was the greyish tones that can be seen under certain meteorological conditions when flying in RW. Nonetheless I managed to darken the Inland & Ocean textures to make them look more realistic. Unfortunately I am at work and unable to provide you with screenshots but will post some as soon as I can. October 7, 201411 yr Thank you - that is what I was looking for. So you darkened the Inland and Ocean textures - I have not tried adjusting these properties. David Hinson
October 10, 201411 yr Author David, sorry for not getting back, life very busy at present. Yes you can tweak the colours and create sets with different tones of brightness and contras. It's really working for me rather well, all I have to do is choose which set to load prior to starting the simulator depending on which part of the world I am flying. October 10, 201411 yr It's possible to create custom waterclass bgl file that will allow use of a range of water textures. Look through scenery\world\texture to get an idea of the possibilities. scott s. .
