AI Nav Lights Question

The following was asked in a thread about 2.4 installation issues.

"does the new version fixes the ai traffic lights disappearing in distance"

There are no change in version 2.4 related to AI lights. The situation is as before.

There is no 100% fix to DX10 lights.

If you do not enable the DX10 Compatible Effects option then many AI lights will work provided another light such as your aircraft nav light is in view at the same time.

If you enable the DX10 Compatible effects option then all lights will work but have limited range.

If you enable the DX10 Compatible effects and DX10 Lights package then for most people you get the best of both worlds AI lights work reasonably well in thedistance and other lights and effects work ok.

BUT this relies on AI package using the standard effect lights fx_navred.fx fx_navgre.fx etc. If you have a package that uses other lights or has the lights built into the model then you need to experiment. If the lights work without the DX10 Compatible Effects conversion then you need to identify the names of the lights and add them as excludes into Dx10SF - see manual for details on how to exclude effects from the conversion process. (Or buy another AI package!)

Are the above items the reasons I don't see color nav or beacon lights in AI traffic, whether they are near or far? I only see white lights.

Steve,

Maybe I have to ask you to forgive me for my conclusions in less than 10 days using your Fixer. Tonight, parked at Memphis Cargo, at dusk, during the T7 pre-flight, lots of FedEx AI rolled in and out the terminal, with all their colored nav and beacon lights, perfect balanced. Simply beautiful against the afternoon becoming night.

Please, consider this item resolved.

Heron,

how did you manage to resolve your issue ? I am using UT2 models (much better FPS impact than IVAO MTL), with Shockwave Lights Package installed, but whilst I can see lovely landing and taxi lights, I can't make the navlights/Strobes working....I just can't see them regardless how far the aircraft are from me...(by the way I don't remember if I enabled the DX10 Lights package during installation.....how can I check it via GUI now ?).

Steve

thanks a lot....reinstalling the libraries and enabling the light package fixed it...now working perfectly...and by the way with reference to another post of mine....using UT2 vs IVAO models has significantly improved the performence....

this is great tool indeed....glad I bought it....!

bye
