I'm getting this error when I fly the MJ8 with RC4 and ASN. It happens about 1 hour into the flight. Temperatures (CPU and GPU) well within limits.

This began happening after I updated ASN to SP1, all settings within ASN have not changed. A similar flight with Carenado PC12 did not result in a AppCrash

Thank you for your reply. I don't know what MTX is, so I probably don't have it..

The overclock was done by Digital Storm, who built my computer 2 years ago. During that time it has been very stable and has a large case with plenty of fans and a Noctura NH-214 CPU cooler and temperatures are very steady, well within the "green" zone.

I suspect some type of graphics overload.I should probably try a flight with default weather, but since it takes an hour or so before the CTD happens, it is very time consuming to troubleshoot.

Dale

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Not sure why your subject is StackHash_2264. I do not see a StackHash error as the cause of this crash.

Your crash was caused by "EventType=CLR20r3" which basically means an exception was thrown at FSX.exe and the name of the exception was System.ComponentModel.Win32. This indicates to me a problem with one of your Microsoft.net programs and, since the error shows Problem Signature 2.0.0.0, I suspect a problem with Microsoft.net 2.0 which is required for the proper operation of FSX and some FSX components. You didn't uninstall it did you thinking all you needed was the latest? They are not backward compatible. You need them all. Go to the AVSIM CTD Guide (located under Hot Spots at the right of this forum) and look under Microsoft.net's. There's a verification tool to make sure your dotnets are installed properly. Check to make sure dotnet 2.0 is installed properly. Also make sure you have all of the other required dotnets.

If this does not fix the problem, uninstall, reinstall ASN. Make sure all components of ASN are uninstalled (there are two uninstall programs for ASN and two install programs for proper installation).

Hope this helps.

Thank you Firehawk44. Lots of good info here. Not sure why, but when FSX crashed, under details, it said it was stackhash_2264, excep code c0000005, badc0del.

anyway, I downloaded and ran the Setupverifier, but after checking both log files, there were no errors.

I was next going to uninstall/reinstall ASN, but I can only find one uninstaller for ASN. Did you mean I also had to uninstall AS2012? Also, under my Simmarket account, it only shows one install file fo ASN.

Dale

I was next going to uninstall/reinstall ASN, but I can only find one uninstaller for ASN. Did you mean I also had to uninstall AS2012? Also, under my Simmarket account, it only shows one install file fo ASN.

For installers, you are correct. But, to uninstall you have to uninstall Active Sky Next for FSX and ASConnect for FSX.

Not sure whether ASN and AS2012 can co-exist. I assume you are keeping AS2012 for the cloud textures?

For StackHashes, Driver170 (Vernon) is partially correct. We have seen StackHash errors being caused by a bad overclock and/or wrong voltages, high settings, an issue with an AI Schedule in MyTrafficX (disable MTX if installed in the Scenery Library and see if this fixes the problem), rebuilding the fsx.cfg, and I have also seen it happen if you close FSX in full screen mode instead of windowed mode. Unfortunately there is no one fix that works for everyone.

Ok, did a complete uninstall of ASN and ASConnect, rebooted, then did a fresh download and install. Flew from KPIT to KRDU with ASN, RC4, about 1.5 hours, and there were no problems. I need to fly a few more flights before I can be completely sure, but I think this may have fixed the problem.

You are correct that I am only using AS2012 for cloud textures, I never run AS2012 and ASN at the same time.

Very much appreciate your help with this. At the age of 69,my computer skills are not the best, but I really enjoy flight simulation (former Air Force pilot) and I probably push the computer close to its limits in atemmpting to get as much realism as possible.

Dale

At the age of 69

Hey! We're the same age! (and yes my Avatar pictures is really me). I turn 70 in a couple more weeks. Ugh!

Glad you got your problem fixed.
