October 22, 201411 yr Author Yeah I went to update yesterday and it says it will erase all date on my drive. So I didn't update Where does it say this? The instruction pdf says: "There is always the risk of data loss when updating SSD firmware. It is imperative that the user backs up any important data before performing a firmware update with Performance Restoration application or Dos Solution." gb. YSSY. October 22, 201411 yr I haven't noticed any performance loss with both 840 EVO's I have, if the loss of data is possible then I think I'll pass on this update, I use SSD's only, just a 2TB HDD for storage and random bits.
October 22, 201411 yr Yeah I went to update yesterday and it says it will erase all date on my drive. So I didn't update It should not erase anything. They just put a disclaimer on in case it happens ... Which is possible with any firmware update. Btw I did the update and nothing was erased. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
October 22, 201411 yr There is a thread already.Anyway, there is of course risk whenever you update firmware, but it's minimal. Even if you loose data, SSD should be operation device, not data storage device, so worst case would be reinstallation of windows and software. All 840EVO devices are affected, you can notice it if you pay attention.
