June 12, 200520 yr Does anyone know if Andrew Niiranen is still going to re-make his KPDX scenery in GMAX?I see the website is gone (?)He made a very accurate rendition but the FPS really dog my computer. Also,I'm curious if Mega Scenery has KPDX. In their screenshots it looks like KSEA is the featured airport.

No, I confirmed this with users on this forum. In fact, I understand that the transition border of this package is quite abrupt with though given to smoothing. I have asked for some to post the actual border but none have. As a result I had to pass on this package. June 12, 200520 yr No MegaScenery PNW does NOT cover Portland, OR.You said that KSEA is the featured airport, this isn't entirely true. KSEA is the default scenery, however the entire region around it, is greatly enhanced. Everytime I fly in or out of Seattle, PNW still takes my breath away. Truly a masterpiece.
April 10, 200620 yr Re: the area around Seattle.......I will be visiting this area this summer and part of this trip will be by float plane from Kenmore Flying Service to Victorai...so I tried to duplicate it on FS, but when I load the two float runways from default scenery, FS puts me on the side of a hill somewhere near Seattle, not in the water!! Can someone explain a correction for this?? Any scenery files that can be downloaded for a fix?? Since this is so close to MS and KSEA is the default location, one would think this area would be fairly accurate.......Many thanks for the help, RRL
April 10, 200620 yr Awsome KPDX scenery nearing completion at www.flightscenery.com It includes the whole city and surrounding airports. ;) A little preview:http://216.25.73.93/demos/fz02/devmarch/fz02-180306-04.jpghttp://216.25.73.93/demos/fz02/dev/fz02_050106_10L.jpg
April 10, 200620 yr Don't know if you know this but flightscenery has a payware KPDX on the way. Looks very close to flytampa standards.
April 10, 200620 yr Vauchez's work, in my opinion, actually EXCEEDS FlyTampa quality, if that is possible. :)
April 10, 200620 yr I would go further:From what I see, and actually from also flying with their first product Rhode Island, I guess FlightScenery's products are a class of their own setting THE standards and it has never be beaten. Not only they look photorealistic, which is what we would expect, but they do have this artistic knowledge that is fundamental in this art: it is not a matter of having photos and convert them as textures, it is a matter of casting light and managing shadows in a photorealistic way. Furthermore, each element in the scene shows greater details (poylgon count) than any other scenery up-close. Last but not least, when this complexity runs wihtout a hickup to the Frame Rate counter, it is VERY hard to beat! This is just my opinion!
April 10, 200620 yr Vauchez is a pro 3d modeller that REALLY knows his stuff. His PVD sets a new standard to whcih all can try to meet. It's really that good, and there is no noticeable performance hit either.PDX will be better since it is a second generation product. George Grimshaw (Fly Tampa)is a very close second IMHO. Both are excellent designers.Considering that I can compare Boston and Providence (I live between, and fly through both) i give both a very strong thumbs up!
April 10, 200620 yr Vauchez of flight scenary is the rembrandt of Flight sim scenaries.Fly Tampa's KSEA comes pretty close to Flight scenary quality.. except flight scenary size/scope is much larger as well.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 10, 200620 yr Don't forget the excellent freeware St.Malo Vauchez did found right here in the FS library.Just a very small sample of his talents. Also, I have to agree with the above poster, FT stuff is amazing but on a smaller scale compared to Vauchez, thus the reason we have so much more from them. April 10, 200620 yr >No, that's not possible :)>Flightscenery is a few steps above Flytampa for sure. PVD is the most detailed scenery I have (remember it's almost all of Rhode Island not just KPVD) and with 0 fps hit, Flytampa could learn from this guy.
April 11, 200620 yr Based on the posts here, I bought the KSEA program, THIS IS REALLY NEAT11....Thanks to all who pointed this out.....still do not have the Seattle Kenmore Harbor location figured out......RRL
April 11, 200620 yr >No, that's not possible :)>Not only is it possible its the truth. Fly Tampa is awesome and no one else can do what FT and Flight Scenery do but Vauchez comes out on top in detail and in sheer scope. He never does just one airport he does an entire region perfectly.
